Candace Owens is no longer just feuding with Donald Trump. Now she is going straight after the Trump family.
The conservative commentator, once one of Trump’s loudest allies, unleashed a scorching attack on Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner over their controversial luxury resort project on Sazan Island in Albania — a stunning coastal area in the Adriatic Sea that has become the center of growing protests and environmental outrage.
Owens devoted a segment of her podcast to tearing into the couple’s planned development, mocking Ivanka’s attempt to frame the project as a meaningful, almost spiritual journey.
“I guess we’re supposed to think Ivanka is just his innocent wife or something,” Owens said, ridiculing the polished public image Ivanka has carefully maintained for years.
Owens compared Ivanka’s soft-focus branding to an attempt to make the Kushner empire look clean, wholesome and harmless, even as critics accuse the politically connected family of cashing in on their proximity to power.
The resort project, reportedly worth $1.4 billion, is planned for Sazan Island, an uninhabited stretch of land known for its wildlife and protected coastal environment. The area is home to flamingos, sea turtles and other species that conservationists warn could be threatened by a massive luxury development.
But Ivanka recently described the project in glowing terms during an appearance on David Senra’s podcast.
“I’m working on an incredible project with my husband in the Mediterranean,” Ivanka said. “It’s massive in scale.”
She also described how she and Kushner supposedly discovered the island while boating with friends.
“We were on a friend’s boat,” Ivanka said. “And we stopped for a swim. Effectively, that’s how we found it. We swam to the islands. We went on a hike, barefoot all the way, up to the top. And we were just captivated.”
Owens was not buying the fairy-tale version.
She mocked the story as absurd and accused Ivanka of being used to soften the image of a project that has sparked fury in Albania and beyond.
“This is when they roll out Ivanka,” Owens said. “Ivanka is supposed to make you feel like it’s clean, right?”
The backlash against the development has exploded in Albania, where protesters have filled the streets of Tirana demanding the project be stopped. Demonstrators have carried signs reading “Ivanka Go Home” and “Albania is not for sale.”
The anger is not just about politics. Many locals and environmental groups argue that the project is a giveaway to politically powerful outsiders and a threat to one of the country’s most sensitive natural areas.
Aleksandr Trajce, executive director of Albania’s leading conservation group, told The Guardian that the development reflected “a complete collapse of rule of law,” claiming there had been no proper environmental consideration, no contract permits and no respect for public opposition.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has dismissed some of the criticism, arguing that opponents only care because Kushner is connected to Trump.
“If it was not Jared, they would not give a s–t about what is happening in Albania,” Rama told Politico.
But Owens used the controversy to paint a much bigger picture: a Trump-connected family getting richer while ordinary people, both abroad and in America, are left behind.
Her attack also comes as a growing number of right-wing figures have turned sharply against Trump over his handling of foreign policy, especially amid anger over U.S. support for Israel and the war in Iran.
Owens accused Trump of betraying his own supporters and putting his family’s financial interests ahead of the American people.
“He’s just completely sold out the American people for Israel, for his family,” Owens said.
She then slammed the image of Trump’s inner circle living in luxury while Americans struggle with rising costs.
“They’re going to be billionaires. They’re going to buy islands,” Owens said, adding that “nobody cares if the Americans are growing poorer.”
The attack marks another extraordinary rupture inside Trump world, where some of his former loyalists are now openly accusing his family of greed, corruption and hypocrisy.
For Ivanka Trump, who has spent years trying to distance herself from the political chaos of her father’s presidency, the backlash is a reminder that her last name — and her husband’s global business ambitions — still come with heavy baggage.
And for Trump, the fight is even more politically dangerous.
Owens is not a liberal critic. She built her brand by defending Trump, attacking Democrats and rallying conservative audiences. Now, she is using that same megaphone to accuse the Trump family of selling out everyday Americans while chasing billions overseas.
The result is a nasty public split that Democrats are likely to seize on: even some of Trump’s former MAGA allies are now asking whether the family that promised to put America first was really putting itself first all along.
