President Donald Trump lashed out at a female reporter Tuesday after being pressed about the soaring cost of his long-promised White House ballroom project, snapping, “You are not a smart person,” during a tense exchange outside the White House.

The heated moment unfolded just before Trump departed Washington, D.C., for a trip to Beijing, where he stopped to boast about the massive ballroom project that has become one of the most talked-about renovations of his second term.

“We have a ballroom that’s under budget. It’s going up right here,” Trump told reporters. “I’ve doubled the size of it because we obviously need that. And we’re right now on budget, under budget and ahead of schedule.”

But the conversation quickly turned combative when a female reporter attempted to point out that the overall price tag for the project had reportedly doubled.

“The price has doubled—” she began before Trump abruptly cut her off.

“I doubled the size of it, you dumb person! Doubled the size,” Trump fired back while appearing to lean closer toward the reporter. “You are not a smart person.”

The stunning exchange immediately sparked backlash online, with critics accusing the president of once again targeting a female journalist with personal insults instead of answering questions about taxpayer spending.

The ballroom project has already drawn scrutiny from watchdog groups and political opponents who argue the lavish expansion is unnecessary at a time when Americans are still struggling with inflation, housing costs, and rising consumer prices.

Trump, however, has repeatedly defended the project as a “historic improvement” to the White House and has insisted it will become “one of the most beautiful ballrooms anywhere in the world.”

The president has long been known for combative exchanges with reporters, especially during high-pressure press gaggles. But critics say Tuesday’s confrontation crossed another line, particularly because it came in response to a straightforward question about government spending.

The White House has not yet commented on the incident or clarified the updated projected cost of the ballroom expansion.

  1. She OBVIOUSLY is not very smart so its not an insult. No different than if he said she had black hair

  2. Sometimes you media people ARE stupid.

The White House Ballroom construction is NOT at tax payer expense. The only tax payer money being used is at the request of the Republican Congress to “harden” the security of the White House, including the Ballroom.
So get your facts straight before you print something that is NOT true and accurate. Like the typical Drive-by media would do.

  3. It is perfectly obvious to all those “Democrat-idiots” that every humanoid creature—even one utterly devoid of IQ—has the right to insult President Trump; yet President Trump himself—elected to this office by a majority of the American people three times in a row—somehow has no right to respond to such a creature.

  4. Trump……………………..show more class talking to reporters……………………..not very Presidential
