Scott-Vincent Borba (then and now)

The co-founder of e.l.f. Cosmetics has completely transformed his life after walking away from the beauty empire he helped build — and he’s now preparing to become a Catholic priest.

Scott-Vincent Borba, 52, who helped launch the wildly successful makeup brand in 2004, is set to be ordained as a Catholic priest on May 23 in his hometown of Visalia, California, according to reports.

And after years surrounded by money, luxury, and Hollywood culture, Borba says he’s happier now than ever before.

“I have never been happier in my life,” Borba told ABC 7. “Once I started to reorient myself, recalibrate myself with God’s help to the focus to Him, the joy started coming.”

Borba co-founded e.l.f. Cosmetics — short for “Eyes Lips Face” — alongside Alan and Joseph Shamah.

The cruelty-free makeup company exploded in popularity thanks to its affordable beauty products and ethical branding, eventually becoming a massive success.

By 2014, the company had reportedly reached $100 million in sales.

But despite the fame and fortune, Borba later admitted he felt empty inside.

In a past interview, he opened up about becoming consumed by the Hollywood lifestyle and chasing wealth instead of fulfillment.

“I was vapid. I had a perversed life,” Borba said. “I got sucked into the Hollywood lifestyle — it was almost to a point where I was trying to sell my soul for all of the riches of the world.”

“I was living for myself,” he continued. “I was a poster boy for luxury.”

Borba said he always felt called toward religion from a young age but spent decades suppressing that side of himself while building his business career.

Then, in his 40s, he says he experienced what he described as a sudden spiritual awakening after feeling a deep loss of joy.

“I asked our Lord to help me be the man that he created me to be,” Borba recalled. “And upon that instance, I had this massive flood of love and mercy that came into my life.”

“It was a very mystical experience.”

According to reports, Borba eventually decided to give away his fortune to charity and dedicate his life fully to ministry.

Today, he lives a dramatically different life than the one he once led as a beauty mogul.

Borba is currently a deacon and seminarian at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, California, where he says he now lives with very few possessions.

“I live in a little tiny room,” he said. “It’s sparse, nothing in it. I have a few bits of clothes and a few pairs of shoes.”

“My life has been culled down to the bare minimum.”
