A Secret Service employee is at the center of a jaw-dropping scandal in South Florida after being accused of exposing himself and engaging in a lewd act just steps away from unsuspecting hotel guests.

Authorities say 33-year-old John Spillman was arrested Sunday night at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport and Convention Center after horrified guests reported disturbing behavior in the hallway outside their room.

According to an arrest report, the guests were heading back to their room around midnight when Spillman allegedly followed them upstairs to the sixth floor. What happened next left them stunned.

Investigators say the guests spotted Spillman outside their room with his pants lowered, allegedly performing a sex act in plain view. Panicked, they immediately contacted hotel security.

When security arrived, they reportedly found Spillman still in the act, confirming the guests’ claims, according to authorities.

The accused employee, who is based in Washington, D.C., had been in South Florida as part of a security assignment tied to President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to Trump National Doral for the 2026 PGA Cadillac Championship. Officials say he was off-duty at the time of the incident.

Spillman, who is originally from Marble Falls, Texas, has since been charged with indecent exposure and placed on administrative leave as both a criminal case and an internal investigation move forward.

In a strongly worded statement, Secret Service Chief Richard Macauley made it clear the agency is taking the allegations seriously.

“The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel,” he said, adding that a full investigation is underway.

Spillman was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and later released on a $1,000 bond, according to records. He is expected to appear in court on May 27.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has not yet commented publicly on the case.

What was supposed to be a routine security trip tied to a high-profile presidential visit has now turned into a headline-grabbing controversy—one that’s raising serious questions about conduct behind the scenes.
