Donald Trump is facing a new wave of backlash after an AI-generated image appearing to depict him as Jesus Christ resurfaced online, then disappeared, setting off outrage across the political and media landscape. What might have once been brushed off as another bizarre Trump internet stunt is now fueling deeper questions about his judgment, his rhetoric, and what critics say is an increasingly alarming pattern of behavior.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not mince words when asked about the controversy. As reporters pressed her on Trump’s recent public outbursts, including his escalating feud with Pope Leo and the now-deleted image, Pelosi responded with open disbelief.

“What is going on?” one reporter asked.

“You’d have to ask a psychiatrist,” Pelosi said. “It isn’t even worthy of a conversation; it’s really worth a diagnosis.”

Her comments added even more fuel to an already explosive controversy that has stretched far beyond the usual partisan criticism. The image, which reportedly showed Trump in flowing robes surrounded by patriotic symbolism, quickly drew condemnation online, with many critics calling it offensive, narcissistic, and deeply inappropriate.

The reaction was not limited to Democrats. Even conservative media figure Megyn Kelly blasted the post, calling it “blasphemous” during her SiriusXM show. Kelly said the image was clearly meant to elevate Trump in a godlike way and argued there was no innocent explanation for it.

“It is obviously him purporting to be God,” she said. “That is what he’s doing. And it is blasphemous, by any definition of the word. It’s completely inappropriate and he knows it.”

Kelly also pointed to Trump’s ongoing spat with Pope Leo, saying it was only a matter of time before the president lashed out. In her view, the clash was predictable because Trump has long responded to criticism with public attacks and personal escalation.

As the uproar grew, mental health expert Dr. Lori Bohn weighed in on the larger conversation surrounding Trump’s tone and behavior. The psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner told Radar that impulsive or aggressive speech does not automatically point to a mental health condition, since it can also be shaped by personality, stress, or deliberate communication tactics.

Still, she cautioned that repeated and escalating behavior can become more concerning over time. According to Bohn, the key question is whether the conduct reflects a persistent pattern of dysfunction or simply a situational response. That distinction, she suggested, matters when evaluating whether this is just Trump being Trump or something more serious unfolding in public view.

The image may have been deleted, but the damage was already done. Across social media, critics slammed the post as yet another example of Trump’s obsession with spectacle, grievance, and self-glorification. For many, it fit neatly into a broader pattern of increasingly inflammatory behavior that has become impossible to ignore.

Trump, however, brushed off the controversy and insisted everyone had it wrong. Speaking to reporters, he claimed the image was not meant to portray him as a religious figure at all.

“I thought it was me as a doctor and it had to do with the Red Cross,” he said. “It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better. I make people a lot better.”

He then dismissed the outrage as “fake news,” arguing the image was symbolic of healing, not divinity.

But that explanation has done little to quiet critics, especially as questions continue to swirl around his increasingly combative public conduct. For Democrats and other Trump opponents, the deleted post is not just another bizarre headline. It is being seen as one more flashing warning sign in a campaign season already defined by chaos, extremism, and escalating political instability.
