President Donald Trump raised eyebrows Monday after appearing to struggle to stay awake during a lengthy public safety roundtable in Tennessee—an event that quickly turned into a marathon of glowing praise from top officials.
The 79-year-old commander-in-chief was seated inside a hangar at the Memphis Air National Guard Base when cameras captured him repeatedly closing his eyes, occasionally jerking his head as if trying to snap back to attention. The moment came as Cabinet members and allies took turns applauding his leadership in what critics are calling an over-the-top display of loyalty.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth kicked off the praise parade, declaring, “Before President Trump, our nation was set on a perpetual course of decline,” while the president sat beside him with his eyes shut for stretches of the speech.
FBI Director Kash Patel followed with his own tribute, telling Trump, “I’m living the wildest dream you could possibly imagine, sir… It’s thanks to you,” as the president stared ahead with what some observers described as a blank, heavy-eyed expression.
The event began on a lighter note, with Trump walking onstage to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” and joking about the venue’s acoustics.
“Wow! This is a nice place with the best sound system,” he said. “It sounds like the finest opera hall anywhere in the world.”
But the tone shifted as Trump referenced ongoing global tensions, including the escalating conflict with Iran, before launching into a familiar mix of topics—crime, border security, and even Elvis Presley.
“I love Elvis,” Trump said enthusiastically, perking up as he discussed his planned visit to Graceland. “I met Sinatra, I met all of them—but I never met Elvis. Sometimes I feel like I should just say I knew him well.”
Despite moments of energy, the president appeared to grow increasingly fatigued as the meeting dragged on—especially as speakers lined up to heap praise on his administration.
This isn’t the first time Trump has faced scrutiny over appearing drowsy in public. Similar moments were captured during past Cabinet meetings, where he later brushed off concerns.
“Some people said I closed my eyes,” Trump told reporters previously. “Look, it got pretty boring. I didn’t sleep.”
The optics are particularly notable given Trump’s long-running attacks on former President Joe Biden, whom he frequently mocked as “Sleepy Joe.”
Now the oldest president ever sworn into office, Trump has insisted he remains in peak condition, with his medical team describing his health as “excellent.”
Still, the latest footage is fueling fresh debate over stamina, optics—and whether even the most loyal praise sessions can keep the president fully engaged.

Yes, Democrat type BS is sleep inducing…
As one who has difficulty sleeping I defy anyone to keep his schedule and not catch a few ZZ’s occasionally. Not a sign of age or illness; just the body saying, here’s my chance. No big deal!
