A respected medical professor is raising the alarm about President Donald Trump’s health, alleging the 79-year-old commander-in-chief quietly suffered a stroke in 2025 and has been showing signs of neurological decline ever since.

The claim—already rippling through Washington—comes as the oldest president in U.S. history appears increasingly frail during a turbulent second term that has left even some allies privately uneasy.

The warning comes from Professor Bruce Davidson of Washington State University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, who joined biographer Sidney Blumenthal and Princeton historian Sean Wilentz on their podcast, The Court of History. While the White House has dismissed any concerns, Davidson said the “lines of evidence are piling up.”

“I think his stroke was on the left side of the brain, which controls the right side of the body,” Davidson said. “The signs go back six months or more. Earlier in 2025, he was shuffling, holding his right hand in a protective position, and slurring words he didn’t used to slur.”

Davidson added that Trump’s visible daytime sleepiness—captured in multiple public events—could reflect hypersomnolence, a condition common in stroke survivors. “When you see someone nodding off that frequently, you start to ask hard questions,” he said.

For more than a year, speculation about Trump’s medical stability has quietly circulated in Washington. But the questions became impossible to ignore as cameras repeatedly captured moments that alarmed viewers:

  • Slow, unsteady movement descending Air Force One’s stairs, gripping the banister with the opposite hand of his dominant side.
  • Large, unexplained bruises on his hands—so prominent the president has attempted to conceal them with makeup.
  • Pronounced leg swelling, confirmed by the White House in 2024 as chronic venous insufficiency.
  • A drooping facial appearance during a 9/11 memorial event last fall that sparked viral debate about a possible stroke.

A retired Democratic congressional staffer who worked on elder-care legislation said the pattern is “deeply familiar.”

“When you’ve had family members with neurological issues, you know the signs,” she told us. “This isn’t just a man who’s tired after golf.”

Earlier this month, Trump told The Wall Street Journal he has been treating leg swelling and sometimes wears compression socks. He also admitted taking more aspirin daily than doctors advised—something cardiologists warn can cause excessive bruising.

“I just want to stay sharp,” Trump said in the interview. “I’m doing what I need to do.”

But critics say those comments raised more questions than they answered.

Davidson went further, suggesting Trump’s governing style may itself be a symptom of post-stroke psychological shifts.

“It can change behavior,” he said. “Some people come away from a near-death medical event convinced they need to push boundaries because the next one could be fatal.”

Several former administration officials—speaking anonymously to avoid retaliation—say they have noticed changes. One former national security adviser described Trump’s mood as “swinging between manic energy and total disengagement.”

“You’d see him nodding off in briefings,” the official claimed. “But then an hour later he’d be barking orders with this weird, almost euphoric tone. It was jarring.”

The administration blasted the growing scrutiny as politically motivated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Daily Beast that Trump is “in excellent overall health” and has the “relentless work ethic” the public sees daily.

She accused the media of manufacturing controversy. “This is the same failing press corps that covered up Joe Biden’s decline,” she said. “Americans see right through it.”

Yet Democrats say transparency is becoming a national security concern. One senior House Democrat called for an independent medical evaluation, saying, “The public deserves to know whether the president is physically and cognitively capable of leading the armed forces.”

As Trump barrels through his second term, his health has become the quiet question shadowing the 2026 political landscape. Republicans insist the president is strong. Democrats warn that the stakes are too high to ignore mounting red flags.

And voters—already living through an election cycle marked by fear, fatigue, and global instability—are left wondering whether the commander-in-chief is hiding more than just bruises.

  1. Gotta love when these people who have never examined someone can simply look at someone and make a claim that has a “Ripple” effect through Washington. The only reason for that is because the left wants desperately to point to something that would compromise Trump. It is comical that anyone listens to this nonsense! Sorry but this “Dr.” just blew out any credibility he previously might have had. He is not even practicing, he is a professor!

    1. What a joke!
This guy has not even met or spoke to Trump. There’s an apt expression here,”those who can do those who can’t teach”! This guy is not even a practicing MD he’s a professor and of course all the “un-named sources”!

      Usual left wing clap trap!

And I agree where were all these so called experts when Biden was President when they all covered for him!

  2. The only thing our President Trump needs is to sleep more and get more rest.
He goes a mile a minute all day long and half of the night running this country the way it should be run! Anyone close to his age knows that you bruise easier, your legs swell easily, especially when you’re sitting a lot during the day. So why don’t you Liberals just leave him alone and appreciate what he’s doing to bring this country back to some stability and safety which we lacked during the Biden administration.
Find someone else to criticize for a change! It’s only because of jealousy of what he is accomplishing for our country and worldwide!

  3. Did this quack doctor ever gave such an opinion on Biden – the zombie that occupied the White House for 4 years ??
