President Donald Trump delivered one of his toughest foreign policy warnings yet Tuesday night. He said the United States will act forcefully if Iran carries out executions of anti-government demonstrators.

“We will take very strong action,” Trump said in an exclusive interview with CBS Evening News. “If they do such a thing, we will take very strong action.”

The backdrop is a nationwide uprising that has shaken Iran to its core. What began as protests over crippling inflation and a collapsing economy has spiraled into the largest anti-government movement in decades.

Surge in Deaths, Outrage Worldwide

Human rights groups say thousands of Iranians have been killed in the crackdown. Activists report at least 2,500 dead — including children — with more than 18,000 detained.

Videos smuggled out of Tehran show crowded morgues and shattered neighborhoods. Doctors and families describe scenes of brutal repression.

One of the most chilling developments is the looming execution of 26-year-old protester Erfan Soltani, sentenced to death by hanging in a fast-track trial that raised global alarm.

His family was given minutes to say goodbye, human rights groups say. The case has become a flashpoint in the standoff between Tehran and Washington.

Trump’s Hard Line

Trump said he has not confirmed whether executions have already begun. But his message was blunt.

“If they hang them, you’re going to see some things,” he said. “We don’t want what’s happening in Iran to happen.”

Trump pointed to past U.S. military actions — the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani — as examples of what he considers decisive leadership.

“The endgame is to win,” he told CBS. “I like winning.”

He also posted on social media that “HELP IS ON ITS WAY” for Iranian citizens, promising support in “different forms,” including economic aid.

U.S. Response and Global Tensions

Trump said all meetings with Iranian officials are now off until the violence stops.

But the world is watching nervously. European nations have condemned Tehran’s crackdown and warned of sanctions. The G7 issued a joint statement threatening further measures if violence continues.

Officials in Italy and Poland have urged their citizens to leave Iran.

Meanwhile, some U.S. military personnel at a key base in Qatar were advised to evacuate amid rising tension.

Tehran’s Defiance

Iran’s judiciary insists trials and executions will proceed. Its leaders deny wrongdoing and blame foreign interference for the unrest.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has warned of retaliation if the U.S. attacks, raising fears of a wider conflict.

What’s Next

As protests enter their third week, Iran remains tense. Communications blackouts have isolated citizens, though satellite internet services are stepping in.

Families of the dead weep. Activists say the killings may now be among the deadliest in modern Iranian history.

Trump’s warning has laid down a stark choice: stop the hangings or face consequences. But what that means — military action, economic pressure or something else — remains unclear.

Americans and world leaders now watch anxiously as a crisis that began over bread prices threatens to explode into a global confrontation.
