A Delta Air Lines flight from New York to Edinburgh was forced to divert to Dublin on Friday morning after a major IT failure halted all incoming flights to Scotland’s capital.

Delta Flight 208, a 26-year-old Boeing 767, departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport on Thursday evening. While flying over the Atlantic, the plane issued a 7700 squawk code, signaling an onboard emergency. The aircraft then spent about 20 minutes circling just south of Edinburgh before being diverted to Dublin, where it landed at 10:17 a.m. local time.

Flight tracking data shows that multiple other aircraft were either circling the airport or being redirected, mainly to Dublin or nearby Glasgow Airport, as the IT issue disrupted incoming flights. Edinburgh Airport resolved the problem less than an hour after Delta’s plane landed in Dublin, and outbound flights resumed around 10:45 a.m.

Delta Flight 208 eventually continued to Edinburgh, landing safely at 1:38 p.m. Delta has not yet provided details about the nature of the emergency that prompted the 7700 squawk code.
