President Trump Wants to Impeach Himself?

President Donald Trump sparked fresh controversy Monday after appearing to accidentally promote a social media post from an anti-Trump account calling for his own impeachment — the latest in a string of erratic online outbursts that have left even some Republicans privately unnerved.

Trump, 79, took to Truth Social early Monday morning in a furious tirade against a group of six Democratic lawmakers who last week urged military personnel to refuse unlawful orders. Among them was Sen. Mark Kelly, a retired Navy captain and former astronaut from Arizona.

But in his haste to attack Kelly, Trump shared a screenshot from an account literally named “Impeach Trump a 3rd Time.” The image he posted — which included the phrase “You Can Refuse Illegal Orders” over Kelly’s photo — effectively boosted the message of resistance against Trump’s own administration.

If the president had zoomed in, he would have seen that the account routinely posts pro–Gavin Newsom memes, pictures of burning MAGA hats, and hashtags like “#BlueWave2026.”

“Uh oh. Trump accidentally boosted anti-Trump account ‘Impeach Trump a 3rd Time,’” wrote the watchdog page Patriot Takes on X (formerly Twitter). Another user mocked, “Grandpa has trouble reading.”

The gaffe came days after Trump accused Kelly and the other Democrats of “sedition” — a capital offense under military law — and reposted a Truth Social comment reading, “Hang them.” The president later claimed he was not calling for their deaths, though he insisted the lawmakers were in “serious trouble.”

In a stunning development, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Monday that the Pentagon was reviewing whether Kelly could be recalled to active duty to face a potential court-martial.

“The Department of Defense has received serious allegations of misconduct against Captain Mark Kelly, USN (Ret.),” the Pentagon said in a statement. “A thorough review of these allegations has been initiated.”

Kelly responded forcefully in a statement Monday night: “Secretary Hegseth’s tweet is the first I’ve heard of this. I also saw the President’s posts saying I should be arrested, hanged, and put to death. This is not how America is supposed to work.”

The Truth Social mishap wasn’t Trump’s only blunder of the day. At 7:32 a.m., he praised Rep. Tim Burchett for being “GREAT today on Fox & Friends,” claiming his “take on Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown was 100% perfecto.” But Burchett hadn’t been on the show — the network had simply replayed a clip from the previous day.

Critics seized on the moment as another sign of the president’s deteriorating focus. “He can’t tell yesterday from today,” one senior Democratic aide said. “It’s terrifying that this man still has control of the nuclear codes.”

Trump also lashed out at Republican Senator Rand Paul, calling him a “sick wacko” and a “nasty liddle guy.” The insult came amid reports that Paul privately warned GOP donors about Trump’s mental decline.

Trump’s latest spree follows a week of mounting tension inside the White House, where aides have reportedly grown anxious over the president’s increasingly volatile mood. Two senior staffers, speaking to The Washington Post on background, described “total confusion” in the West Wing and said several advisers have urged Trump to “step back from Truth Social” — advice he’s refused.

Democratic strategist Lis Smith said the episode “shows how detached from reality this administration has become.”

“Trump is attacking war heroes and accidentally amplifying impeachment hashtags,” Smith said. “This isn’t leadership — it’s chaos.”

The White House declined to comment on the blunder, while the Pentagon confirmed that no formal recall order had yet been issued for Kelly.

Still, the spectacle underscored a growing sense of instability in Washington — and renewed fears about what another three years under Trump’s presidency could bring.
