Mar-a-Lago saw something no one expected this weekend — a gay anthem blaring through the chandeliered ballroom as President Donald Trump watched from the front row.
Country superstar Keith Urban brought the house down — and raised plenty of eyebrows — when he performed Chappell Roan’s viral hit “Pink Pony Club,” a song celebrating queer identity and freedom, during a glittering private gala hosted by Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt.
Trump, seated beside Pratt — the same businessman who poured roughly $10 million into Trump’s 2024 campaign — appeared stoic as Urban crooned, “I’m gonna keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club.” Guests say the moment was surreal.
“You could feel the tension,” one attendee told The Palm Beach Post. “Half the room looked shocked, the other half was trying not to laugh. This is Trump’s palace — and Keith Urban was up there singing about a gay nightclub.”
Urban didn’t stop there. He followed up with Bob Marley’s “Is This Love,” but the “Pink Pony Club” performance is what sent the internet into meltdown. Clips of the set have exploded on X, with one user joking, “Keith Urban just made Mar-a-Lago gayer than West Hollywood.” Another quipped, “Somewhere, Chappell Roan just levitated.”
The irony wasn’t lost on fans. Roan — who’s been outspoken against Trump’s policies and the GOP’s attacks on LGBTQ+ rights — once said she’d “rather bus tables in hell than perform at Mar-a-Lago.” Yet her anthem of liberation echoed through Trump’s ballroom.
Urban, who has praised “Pink Pony Club” for its “inclusive, fearless message,” told Intimate and Interactive earlier this year that the song “reminds me of why music matters — it’s about finding joy where you’re told you don’t belong.”
The performance landed amid growing backlash to Trump’s new 2025 policy proposals aimed at rolling back federal protections for trans Americans and defunding LGBTQ+ arts grants.
“It was like a protest in disguise,” said one Democratic strategist. “Keith Urban walked into the lion’s den and sang a song that celebrates everything Trump’s movement tries to suppress.”
Whether Urban planned it as a statement or not, the symbolism was explosive. A queer anthem at the heart of Trump’s Florida fortress — sung by one of country music’s biggest stars.
“Maybe the Pink Pony Club just took over Mar-a-Lago,” one user wrote. “And honestly? About time.”

Can’t wait to see results from this over the next six months. Disrespecting your President right to his face and in his own home. Sorry dude but you are so done. Take next flight to anywhere but the USA. How much did you get to pull that off in President Trump house? Hope it was billions cause you are a joke know. That would be like your ex wife and Tom C. Playing house in your home while your doing a concert. So bad bad bad.
