The governor calls it a “roar for democracy” as Democrats seize the redistricting reins—and take a meme flamethrower to the White House

California Governor Gavin Newsom didn’t wait for the dust to settle before torching Donald Trump in a celebratory, meme-fueled takedown Tuesday night.

Just hours after California voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 50, handing Democrats sweeping control over the state’s congressional redistricting, Newsom’s press office unleashed a no-mercy digital blitz mocking the president as a whimpering baby in AI-generated images.

The meme onslaught came after a bad night for the GOP.

“Donald Trump poked the bear. And the bear roared back,” Newsom posted shortly after the win. “Tonight, California sent a powerful message: We will fight for our democracy. And we will win.”

Instead of a traditional statement, Newsom’s team launched what one political strategist called “the first full-scale meme offensive ever deployed by a sitting governor.”
In one image, Trump appears red-faced and diapered, sobbing in a stroller pushed by Newsom. Another shows the governor spoon-feeding a spaghetti-covered baby Trump in a high chair, captioned:

“Live look at Trump this morning, whining about California.”

From Newsom’s personal account, he amped up the trolling with an AI video of a wailing Trump, a WWE-style clip of Barack Obama body-slamming the former president, and a jab at the official White House post reading “Make America Great Again”. Newsom’s response:

“We just did.”

Prop 50’s passage could flip up to five House seats in California alone—making it the most significant redistricting shift since Trump’s allies pushed through a controversial GOP map in Texas earlier this year.

“This is a backbreaker,” said UCLA political analyst Carmen Delgado. “Trump tried to rig the game in Texas, but California just flipped the board over.”

Trump himself had campaigned against Prop 50 in late October, calling it “a radical left power grab” during a Fresno rally, warning it would “dismantle the beautiful map we fought so hard to keep.”

Voters didn’t buy it.

The California win came amid a broader Democratic surge nationwide, marking a night of deep losses for the GOP under President Trump’s 2025 tenure.

  • Virginia: Democrat Abigail Spanberger flipped the governor’s seat blue, just months after announcing her campaign to “reclaim democracy.”
  • New Jersey: Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill won the governor’s mansion, delivering a fiery speech targeting Trump-era “chaos politics.”
  • New York City: Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor, the city’s youngest in over a century.
  • Pennsylvania: Democrats swept all three seats on the state Supreme Court.
  • Maine: A Republican attempt to kill absentee voting was roundly defeated.
  • Georgia: Democrats notched major upsets in GOP-heavy counties.

Even in Virginia, scandal-plagued Democratic Attorney General candidate Jay Jones, still bruised by weeks of headlines over an alleged explicit text exchange, pulled off a narrow win.

“This isn’t just a win,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “This is a tidal wave—and Donald Trump is drowning in it.”

Newsom wasn’t done. Just before midnight, the governor posted a more sobering message:

“Donald Trump wants to rewrite the rules of democracy to stay in power. But California just reminded him—our voices still matter.”

Democrats across the country are already pointing to Prop 50 and Tuesday’s results as a blueprint for resistance ahead of the 2026 midterms and the increasingly looming 2028 presidential race.

With Trump’s approval ratings still mired in the low 40s, and Democratic enthusiasm spiking after Tuesday, the GOP may find itself on the defensive for the foreseeable future.

One final message, posted by Newsom’s digital team just before dawn, said it all—beneath an image of a diapered Trump crying in front of the Capitol:

“Sleep tight, Mr. President. California is wide awake.”

  1. Ask yourself these questions.
    Where were these elections held?
Was it blue or red states?
Why were all the races called early?
    Who was on the ballot?
What do all the so called winners have in common?
    How many are communist?
How many of these people have made threats against opponents?
Are the same machines used in other elections that democrats supposedly won at?
Who was allowed to vote illegally?
    Was ballot harvesting allowed?
If you answered any of these questions with democrats. My guess there will be voter fraud in each of these. Remember democrats are violent, allows illegals to vote, rigged the machines, committed voter fraud and so much more.
The people in these places have just had their vote stolen again.
Remember basement boy results and I mean the real results?
People in these places don’t have voter ID for a reason.
People in these places really don’t care or are being taken as fools.
Democrats can’t win unless they cheat.
Democrats have told us again they will not lose another election. They have stated they will take (take) back control (control) in 2026 and 2028 no matter what.
Someone needs to seize all the machines and ballots and fast.
I think you will find democrats up to their old tricks. Now calling 2026 and 2028 blue waves. Ladies and gentlemen corruption in full swing once again.
I guarantee the people didn’t vote for these things and people.
If you did vote for them, you deserve everything that is about to happen to you and these states. You just voted to become China. Stupid does what stupid tells you to do.
I will never go into any of these states. Free grocery stores, right!
Someone has to pay for it. Red states need to cut off the blue states funding. Government should cut off their funding also.
