In an eyebrow-raising interview, Vice President JD Vance made it crystal clear: his heart belongs to Marco Rubio—not Donald Trump.
While most in Trump’s inner circle scramble to flatter the unpredictable 79-year-old president, Vance took a rare detour—choosing instead to gush over Secretary of State Marco Rubio, even calling him his “best friend in the administration.”
“I don’t wake up thinking about becoming president,” Vance told New York Post columnist Miranda Devine on her Pod Force One podcast. “Marco is my best friend… we work a lot together.”
But the interview took an even stranger turn when the man next in line for the nuclear codes confessed his true obsession: UFOs.
“There’s a Crazy Person Inside of Me” — VP Goes Full Tinfoil
Vance, 41, leaned into his self-described identity as a “mad UFO lunatic,” revealing that he and Rubio are allegedly working behind the scenes to uncover the truth about extraterrestrial activity.
“All of us put the tinfoil hat on from time to time,” Vance said. “I really want to dig into it… I can’t allow myself to become so busy that I don’t get to the bottom of this.”
His alien fascination isn’t just cocktail party talk. Rubio is slated to appear in The Age of Disclosure, a high-profile 2025 documentary alleging an 80-year global cover-up of intelligent non-human life. In a chilling line from the trailer, Rubio declares:
“We’ve had repeated instances of something operating in the airspace over restricted nuclear facilities… and it’s not ours.”
Alien Hunters or Political Rivals? What Vance Isn’t Saying
While Vance insists there’s no rivalry with Rubio, many within the GOP whisper a different story. Both men are considered potential 2028 contenders—especially if Trump exits early due to his widely speculated cognitive decline.
“Slow or fast, he’s headed down,” longtime Republican strategist Rick Wilson wrote on his Substack, adding, “JD Vance knows, and he’s moving fast.”
Vance himself has hinted at a White House rehearsal. “I’ve gotten a lot of good on-the-job training over the last 200 days,” he said this summer.
Trump: Flirting With Replacements While Rumors Swirl
Despite being his VP, Trump hasn’t exactly thrown his full weight behind Vance as a successor.
“I think most likely, in all fairness, he’s the vice president… but Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form,” Trump said during a confusing statement in August, seemingly hedging his bets.
That tepid endorsement hasn’t stopped speculation. According to insiders, far-right firebrand Steve Bannon has already dismissed Vance’s chances:
“Love him… but Vance is not tough enough to run in 2028,” Bannon reportedly told his inner circle.
The Big Picture: Trump’s Inner Circle Is Fracturing
Vance’s Rubio shoutout isn’t just a quirky moment—it’s part of a broader identity crisis in Trump’s post-reality-TV presidency. As whispers of cognitive decline grow louder, the GOP’s MAGA wing appears split between old loyalty and new ambitions.
For Democrats, the spectacle is all too familiar: a chaotic administration spiraling into ego wars, conspiracy theories, and pre-election maneuvering—while real issues get sidelined.
Whether it’s aliens or ambition, one thing is clear—JD Vance is no longer just playing backup. And with Trump’s future uncertain, the next act of MAGA’s political circus is just beginning.
