New Video Shows Mayor Get Stabbed Outside Cannabis Dispensary

A shocking attack caught on camera shows the moment former Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan was brutally stabbed outside his own cannabis dispensary in Massachusetts.

Flanagan, who served a single term as the city’s mayor, was ambushed Monday evening outside the Cosmopolitan Dispensary in Fall River — the marijuana business he owns. The 42-year-old was found bleeding heavily from the neck and rushed to the hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows the suspected attacker, Corree Gonzales, sprinting up behind Flanagan before striking him several times in the head and neck area. The former mayor throws his hands up in self-defense and collapses to the sidewalk as the suspect takes off running across the street, leaving him covered in blood.

Witnesses described the chaotic moment they saw the attack unfold. “I saw a guy mumbling some words,” said bystander Karen Cange. “He came out, brushed up against the guy, stabbed him on the face and the neck. He was bleeding everywhere.”

Authorities arrested 31-year-old Gonzales on Tuesday morning after an overnight manhunt. Police say he attacked officers during his arrest and is now facing multiple charges — including four counts of assault and battery on a police officer — in addition to attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Court records reveal Gonzales has a long criminal history and was recently homeless. In a 2024 police report, his mother and sister told officers he has struggled with severe mental illness since he was a teenager. His last known address was listed as the Bristol County Jail in North Dartmouth.

During his arraignment Tuesday, Gonzales pleaded not guilty. He’s currently being held without bail pending a mental health evaluation.

Flanagan’s political career was once marked by both promise and controversy. Elected in 2009 at just 29 years old, he became Fall River’s youngest mayor. But in 2014, his time in office came to an abrupt end when voters recalled him after allegations surfaced that he had threatened a political rival with a gun — a claim he has long denied.

Now, the former mayor who made headlines for his fiery political style is back in the news under far darker circumstances.

Police have not announced a motive for the attack, and it remains unclear whether Flanagan and Gonzales knew each other.
