In a development shaking the highest echelons of power, House Democrats on Friday released a massive trove of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including flight logs from his infamous private jet — and a newly unsealed transcript of a congressional interview with former U.S. attorney Alex Acosta, who brokered Epstein’s now-infamous 2008 plea deal.

The records, made public by the House Oversight Committee, confirm that Epstein’s private jet — often dubbed the “Lolita Express” — ferried a who’s-who of international elites. Names on the manifests include former President Bill Clinton, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, British royal Prince Andrew, CNN anchor Walter Cronkite, and billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson.

None of the individuals named have been charged with a crime.

But the timing of the release is already sparking political shockwaves, particularly as President Donald Trump — who himself once counted Epstein as a Mar-a-Lago acquaintance — ramps up rhetoric about restoring “law and order” while federal investigations into Epstein’s vast sex trafficking network remain unresolved.

The newly released transcript offers the most detailed explanation to date from Acosta, who as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida approved Epstein’s widely criticized plea agreement. That deal allowed the billionaire to avoid federal prosecution in exchange for pleading guilty to minor state charges — a move that critics say protected Epstein’s powerful associates.

“Our judgment in this case, based on the evidence known at the time, was that it was better to have a billionaire serve time in jail, register as a sex offender and pay his victims restitution than risk a trial,” Acosta told lawmakers during a September 2025 closed-door interview.

He admitted the deal was imperfect but defended it as the best possible outcome under the circumstances.

“Many victims refused to testify. Many victims had changing stories,” he said. “All of us understood why they had changing stories, but they did. And defense counsel would have—cross-examination would have been withering.”

Among the biggest names repeatedly listed in the newly released manifests is former President Bill Clinton. The logs show Clinton flew with Epstein multiple times in the early 2000s — including one 2002 flight from New York to Africa with Secret Service protection. One now-infamous photo shows Clinton receiving a shoulder massage from Chauntae Davies, a woman who has since come forward as an Epstein victim, during a fuel stop in Portugal.

Clinton has long denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and has not been accused of wrongdoing. Still, the optics — and the timing — are damaging.

“These new revelations add fuel to the fire,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), ranking member of the Oversight Committee. “The American people deserve to know how a billionaire predator built a network of protection that spanned courts, law enforcement, and politics.”

The Oversight Committee’s release is part of a broader Democratic effort to investigate the Justice Department’s handling of Epstein’s case — especially during and after the Trump administration. Acosta later served as Trump’s Secretary of Labor before resigning under pressure in 2019 amid renewed scrutiny of the deal.

At the time, Acosta claimed he stepped in only after the Palm Beach State Attorney’s Office was ready to let Epstein go without jail time.

“Today’s world treats victims very, very differently,” Acosta told the committee. “Back then, we were pushing back against a system that failed these women.”

But Democrats aren’t satisfied.

“We’re looking at institutional rot, plain and simple,” said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). “From Palm Beach prosecutors to federal enablers — and yes, to powerful figures in both parties — Epstein thrived because people in power protected him.”

While much of the media spotlight is fixed on Clinton, the documents also name several Trump-affiliated figures, including Elon Musk, Steve Bannon, and PayPal founder Peter Thiel. Their appearances in flight logs and associated correspondence are expected to draw fresh attention to Epstein’s extensive reach in both liberal and conservative circles.

House Democrats have launched a parallel probe into whether federal authorities under Trump attempted to suppress or redirect investigations into Epstein’s circle of associates.

With President Trump back in office and facing fierce Democratic resistance on Capitol Hill, the release of the Epstein documents adds new heat to already boiling partisan tensions. Calls for an independent commission — similar to the January 6 panel — are gaining momentum among House Democrats.

“We are only scratching the surface,” said Raskin. “The American people deserve a full accounting of who enabled Jeffrey Epstein — and why.”

As Congress dives deeper, questions remain about what was missed, who looked the other way, and whether justice for Epstein’s victims will ever truly be served.

  1. Flight logs tell us nothing except who rode on Epstein Lolita Express. It doesn’t confirm or deny what happened once the plane landed. That’s not enough proof to convict anyone including Clinton. So what’s the point Democrats who crave this irrelevant information? The guy is dead and his madam is in prison. Anything to distract from the do nothing, no message, shutdown Democrats. Fie.

    1. And still no accusations against Trump!
The only reason the Democrats want the list exposed is they hope to incriminate Trump!
They couldn’t care less about the victims!

  2. Wonder if they’ll ever get down to who Epstein worked for? Think ALIPAC doesn’t use his stuff to blackmail legislators, etc.?

  3. This article is ludicrous!! It starts with the headline “Washington rocked as congressional DEMOCRATS release Bombshell Epstein files”.

First the Democrats released nothing it was the HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE chaired by a republican and the majority is republicans.
Second the list of people on the plane which means nothing and it’s mostly high profile democrats!
Third Walter Cronkite who is on the list was never an anchor at CNN but rather was the CBS News anchor for over 30 years before he retired!
