That’s not a coincidence, says journalist and bestselling author Michael Wolff, who spent months with Trump during his first presidency to write Fire and Fury. Now speaking on The Daily Beast Podcast, Wolff opens up about what he calls Trump’s “comfort blanket of female surrogates”—a tight inner circle of women who mimic the First Lady’s image and are tasked with catering to Trump’s every whim.

“It’s eerie,” Wolff tells host Joanna Coles. “They all have the same look. Long hair. Knee-high boots. Pencil skirts. They look like Melania. It’s like a pageant—but the prize is proximity to power.”
