At Least 3 People Dead After Tornadoes Rips Through Small City 

A deadly wave of severe storm and tornadoes ripped across parts of North Dakota late Friday night, leaving at least three people dead and a path of devastation in its wake.

The chaos began around 11:40 p.m. on June 20, when police responded to a home in Enderlin, a small town in the eastern part of the state, following a frantic 911 call. According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, storm chasers had already discovered two bodies at the scene by the time emergency crews arrived. A third victim was later found at a separate location nearby.

All three victims — two men and one woman — were adults, officials confirmed during a press conference held the following day. Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner said emergency responders were already familiar with the victims and had begun welfare checks on other residents as the storm continued to rage.

The Enderlin Sheldon Fire Department’s chief, Jon Anderson, said roughly 10 homes were completely destroyed in the area.

While North Dakota was hit hardest, neighboring Minnesota also experienced powerful storms. The Beltrami County Emergency Management Office reported “significant damage” in and around local communities, including widespread power outages and numerous roads blocked by debris. Thankfully, no injuries or deaths were reported in that state.

In total, more than 20,000 residents in both North Dakota and Minnesota were left without electricity on Saturday, June 21, according to poweroutage.us.

As the cleanup begins, families are mourning, homes are gone, and emergency crews continue working around the clock to assess the full scale of the destruction.
