Rock icon Bruce Springsteen isn’t mincing words when it comes to Donald Trump—and he’s not backing down. In a blistering new interview with The New York Times, Springsteen slammed the president as a “moron” and accused him of exploiting a nation left vulnerable by decades of economic neglect.
“I think it was the combination of deindustrialization and the incredible increase in wealth disparity that left so many people behind,” Springsteen told the Times. “It was ripe for a demagogue. While I can’t believe it was this moron that came along, he fit the bill for some people.”
The singer didn’t stop there. Pointing to the chaos of recent months, Springsteen warned, “What we’ve been living through in the last 70 days is things we all said, ‘This can’t happen here. This will never happen in America.’ And here we are. It’s an American tragedy.”
From Protest Songs to Direct Confrontation
Springsteen, who’s never shied away from politics, has made Trump a target during his current “Land of Hopes and Dreams” tour. At his sold-out shows, he’s called Trump a “treasonous” president who persecutes Americans for exercising their First Amendment rights. “People are being punished for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent,” Springsteen declared from the stage in Philadelphia last week, drawing a roar from the crowd.
Fellow musicians have rallied behind Springsteen, with rock legends like Jon Bon Jovi and Stevie Van Zandt praising his willingness to speak out. “Bruce is saying what millions of us are thinking,” Van Zandt posted on X.
Trump Strikes Back on Truth Social
Not surprisingly, Trump fired back in true Trump fashion—turning to his Truth Social platform to insult the New Jersey rocker. “Bruce Springsteen is a dried up prune who ought to keep his mouth shut,” Trump raged, later posting a doctored video of himself smacking Springsteen with a golf ball.
Despite the online attacks, Springsteen remains defiant. In a recent show, he told the crowd, “We’re not going to let this kind of hate silence us. Not now. Not ever.”

The feud between Springsteen and Trump has become a microcosm of America’s larger cultural and political war. Springsteen, whose blue-collar anthems once resonated with working-class voters in the Rust Belt, now stands as a voice for those disillusioned by broken promises and growing inequality.

Springsteen, just like DeNiro, is having to face the fact of their irrelevancy and outdatedness. But they can’t handle it so each one resorts to idiotic outbursts about others to distract from their senility. We might see this in other older people but at least they have some sense of style and grace. Springsteen and DeNiro—once arguably great; now despicable.
