Aboard his private jet in 2023, Donald Trump made a surprising offer to a rising MAGA star: his own bed. The catch? She wasn’t supposed to tell Melania.

According to Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power, a new book by Axios reporter Alex Isenstadt, the former president extended the invitation to Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, then 35 and pregnant, as she struggled with nausea during a flight.

“If you need a bed to lay down in, there’s one here on the plane,” Trump reportedly told Luna. “If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it. Just don’t tell Melania. She doesn’t like other women on my bed.”

The offhand remark, meant as a joke, now takes on a different weight given long-standing speculation about Melania Trump’s rocky relationship with her husband—and her increasing distance from his political ambitions.

Melania’s Disappearing Act

Unlike previous first ladies, Melania Trump has been conspicuously absent from most public events since Trump’s return to power. She skipped key campaign stops in 2024 and has reportedly spent much of her time in Florida rather than at the White House.

“She leads her own life and joins [Trump] when appropriate,” a source close to the Trumps told People last month.

Her absence has only fueled speculation that she’s keeping her distance. According to journalist Michael Wolff’s book All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America, a close family source put it bluntly:

“She f—ing hates him.”

‘Wink, Wink’: Trump’s Private Outbursts

Isenstadt’s book goes beyond Trump’s personal life, detailing his sarcastic, often brutal remarks behind closed doors.

On the campaign trail, he reportedly dismissed concerns about political retribution, telling aides:

“Listen, everybody. There will be no retribution, there will be no revenge. Wink, wink.”

In private conversations, Trump fumed about his legal battles, raging to an aide in April 2024:

“E. Jean Carroll says I f—ed her. Stormy Daniels says I f—ed her. But I never f—ed them. Everyone’s f—ing everybody, but I never f—ed any of these people.”

Even his own Republican allies weren’t safe from his wrath. When Ron DeSantis entered the 2023 Republican primary, Trump reportedly told then-Ohio Senator J.D. Vance:

“I’m going to squash this guy like a bug.”

He also mocked Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) for lacking charisma and made light of casino mogul Steve Wynn’s incurable eye disease, according to Isenstadt.

Trump Team Dismisses Claims

As expected, Trump’s camp is dismissing the book as nothing more than sensationalism.

“Many of these so-called insider books are a desperate attempt to make money off President Trump’s name because journalism is a dying industry with reporters peddling lies,” White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a statement.

“These works of fiction either belong in the bargain bin of the fantasy section or should be repurposed as tissue paper.”

The Bigger Picture

While some may brush off Trump’s remark to Luna as just another offbeat comment, it fits into a larger pattern—one where Trump’s unfiltered style collides with personal and political drama.

Between Melania’s absence, his reported vendettas, and a long list of personal controversies, Trump’s second term is shaping up to be as chaotic as the first. And if history is any guide, there’s plenty more to come.
