MSNBC is staging a dramatic return. After a steep post-election fall, the network is booming. Ratings are surging across the board.
“Today marks a new chapter,” said host Joe Scarborough. Morning Joe boosted its viewership by 17% in the first five weeks of Trump’s presidency. The show nearly doubled CNN’s morning ratings. Mika Brzezinski added, “Our audience craves honest, hard-hitting analysis now more than ever.” Their direct commitment to clear, uncompromised journalism is resonating.
Weekend programming is also on fire. Ali Vitali’s Way Too Early saw an 18% month-over-month rise. Overall weekend numbers jumped 24% in total viewers and 38% among key 25-54 viewers. Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s show and The Weekend have consistently topped CNN’s ratings. One insider remarked, “The explosive weekend numbers are rewriting the playbook for daytime news.”
In a bold strategic move, the network is shifting talent to prime time. Joy Reid’s farewell edition of The ReidOut hit record highs in the coveted 25-54 demo, solidifying her impact despite fierce competition from rivals like Fox News.
MSNBC is retooling its lineup. The network will now feature weekend hosts—Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez—for a two-hour prime-time slot on Monday nights. Meanwhile, Jen Psaki will replace Alex Wagner at 9 p.m. ET from Tuesday through Friday. Rachel Maddow is set to return on Mondays in April. A media analyst noted, “This shift isn’t just tactical. It’s a full-scale reinvention aimed at the progressive viewer.”
Since Trump took office, MSNBC’s overall daytime audience has jumped 42%—and the 25-54 demo surged by 67%. Fox News still dominates prime time with an average of 3.09 million viewers, yet MSNBC’s daytime performance marks its first win over CNN in three months. CNN’s modest 6% rise in total viewers pales in comparison.
The ratings turnaround reflects a broader cultural shift. American viewers, especially those with progressive leanings, increasingly demand in-depth, fact-based analysis. As one network executive put it, “We’re not merely recovering—we’re redefining cable news.”
MSNBC’s renaissance is more than numbers. It signals a renewed commitment to quality journalism and accountability in a rapidly changing political climate. With strategic moves and compelling on-air talent, MSNBC is poised to lead the conversation in the new era of American news.

You have to be delusional if you want me to believe any of this.
Yep, first I’ve hear of CNN and MSDNC doing anything but plummeting… and they aren’t going anywhere if go back to blatantly lying…
Sheer propaganda. The majority of Joy Reid’s viewers have quit watching MSNBC, so are MAGA cult members rushing to MSNBC? Hardly likely.
They are not journalists but all activists….if either of these people told me it was raining outside I would have to get up and look…
who cares never watched him or that show. Let all the liberals watch it since I wont
