A young British woman has been shot and killed while visiting her father’s home in Texas, authorities confirmed. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Lucy Harrison, had traveled to the U.S. for a family holiday but tragically lost her life in what police have described as an “incident.”
Lucy’s body was found on January 10 at her father’s residence in Texas, where she had been staying. Cheshire Police in the UK confirmed the fatal shooting, but officials have released few details regarding the circumstances.
An inquest into her death opened today, revealing that Lucy had been on holiday in the United States when she was fatally wounded by a firearm. A full hearing is scheduled at Warrington Coroner’s Court on March 28.
Described as “fearless” and “full of life,” Lucy had traveled to the U.S. with her boyfriend just after Christmas. Her sudden passing has left family and friends devastated.
In a heartfelt statement, Lucy’s mother and boyfriend expressed their immense grief:
“Lucy was life. She lived it fiercely and fearlessly, embracing every moment without hesitation. She had an enormous capacity to love and be loved.”
“She was the embodiment of wonderful contradictions. She adored travel, experiencing new cultures, yet also cherished quiet nights in with her candles and a cozy blanket. She could dramatize the smallest things as if they were the end of the world, yet she was also bold, honest, and unafraid to speak her mind.”
“Lucy was truly thriving, and while this gives us comfort, our hearts are utterly shattered by the loss of our beautiful, gorgeous Luce.”
Originally from Cheshire, Lucy studied at Manchester Metropolitan University and was known for her adventurous spirit. Friends describe her as a vibrant young woman who loved to explore new places but always remained deeply connected to home.
Her funeral is set to take place on February 24 at St Elphin’s Parish Church, where family, friends, and loved ones will gather to say their final goodbyes.
Authorities in Texas have not released further details about the shooting or whether any arrests have been made. The Sun Online has reached out to local police for comment.
As the investigation continues, Lucy’s loved ones are left grappling with an unimaginable loss, remembering her as a woman who embraced life with open arms and a fearless heart.
