“This will be the GOLDEN AGE of America!” Trump declared on Truth Social. “Will there be some pain? Yes, maybe (and maybe not!). But it will all be worth the price that must be paid.”
The announcement of sweeping tariffs sent shockwaves through North America. The Trump administration confirmed that all Mexican imports will face a 25% tariff, as will most Canadian goods. Imports from China will be hit with a 10% levy. The move marks a sharp escalation in Trump’s long-standing trade war—a battle he claims will “stop the U.S. from subsidizing other nations.”
Global Fallout Begins
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau fired back immediately, announcing retaliatory 25% tariffs on $100 billion worth of American goods. “We don’t want to be here. We didn’t ask for this,” Trudeau said solemnly in a Saturday press conference, directly addressing American citizens. “But make no mistake—these tariffs will hurt you as much as they hurt us. Everything from cars to groceries will cost more. And Canada will not stand down.”
