The incident occurred on the evening of Dec. 19, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Meek reportedly fell from a moving vehicle around 10:45 p.m., sustaining severe blunt force trauma. He was rushed to UAB Hospital, where he fought for his life for two days before passing on Dec. 21. Local police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
In addition to his role in Baby Driver, Meek appeared in popular TV series like MacGyver and Found and showcased his talent in the film The School Duel. Friends, family, and fans alike recall his remarkable ability to light up every room he entered.
His family shared a heartfelt statement on his Instagram:
“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
The post also announced plans to celebrate his life, inviting the community to honor his memory:
“Specific details regarding a Celebration of Hudson’s Life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow.”
Hudson’s friends and colleagues have expressed their grief publicly. A family friend, Anna Turner, shared, “Hudson had a spark that couldn’t be matched. He wasn’t just talented—he was kind, humble, and wise beyond his years.”
Vestavia Hills High School, where Hudson was a beloved student, plans to hold a vigil in his honor. A school counselor commented, “Hudson’s loss is deeply felt by everyone here. He inspired his peers with his talent and compassion. He will be greatly missed.”
