A shocking discovery was made on Christmas Eve when a dead body was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines Boeing 787-10 that landed at Kahului Airport in Maui, Hawaii.
Flight 202, which departed from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport at 9:49 a.m., arrived in Maui at 2:12 p.m. local time. The body was discovered during a routine inspection of the plane’s main landing gear, United Airlines confirmed in a statement.
The airline emphasized that the wheel well, located outside the aircraft, is not accessible to passengers and that they are working closely with law enforcement to determine how and when the individual gained access.
Local authorities, including the Maui Police Department, are conducting an active investigation but have not released further details.
This incident comes amid a record-breaking holiday travel season, with millions of passengers taking to the skies. As investigations continue, the discovery raises questions about airport security and the risks involved in stowaway attempts.
