A heart-stopping moment unfolded Sunday at The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, when world-renowned pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes, 67, appeared to suffer a medical emergency during his live-streamed sermon.

Thousands of in-person worshippers and online viewers watched in shock as Jakes stumbled over his words and paused abruptly. Moments later, church staff rushed to his side, and the broadcast cut off.

The irony was chilling—Jakes was delivering a message about health challenges when the incident occurred.

“I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching,” Jakes told the congregation, reflecting on the power of ministry. “Have you ever gone to a hospital to visit somebody, and instead of encouraging them, they encourage you? That’s what preaching is like—you think you’re giving out something, but you’re getting more than you gave.”

His words, quoting Psalm 19:14, now seem eerily prophetic: “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer.”

Within hours, The Potter’s House issued a statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), confirming that the bishop had received immediate medical attention.

“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. He is now stable and under the care of medical professionals,” the statement read.

The church also thanked the community for their outpouring of support. “The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the love, prayers, and understanding. Please continue to lift Bishop Jakes in your prayers,” it continued.

Jakes, a spiritual giant in the Christian community, is no stranger to the spotlight. His influence extends far beyond the pulpit. He’s been a confidant to celebrities, including counseling the Braxton sisters on their reality show, Braxton Family Values, where he famously urged them to end their feuding.

He also spearheads MegaFest, a massive annual gospel convention that draws tens of thousands of attendees for worship, music, and motivational sessions.

This recent health scare has sparked concern across his global following, with many expressing hope for his speedy recovery.

“He’s more than a pastor—he’s a beacon of hope for millions,” said longtime member Angela Simmons. “If anyone can get through this, it’s Bishop Jakes.”

As his congregation and admirers await further updates, one thing is clear: the world is holding its breath and lifting its prayers for one of America’s most beloved spiritual leaders.
