In the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election, tensions are running high, especially among those who supported Kamala Harris. Many on the left are still grappling with the outcome, particularly following President Trump’s victory over Harris.

On social media, some have taken drastic actions in protest—women even vowing to withhold intimacy from men for the next four years or shaving their heads in solidarity with their frustrations. TV shows like The View have been flooded with heated discussions and daily legal notices, as they struggle to temper their relentless critiques of anyone who backed Trump. Yes, it’s been a bit of a chaotic few weeks.

Meanwhile, in the country music world, the election sparked its own flurry of political expressions. Many artists were vocal about their support for either candidate. Willie Nelson, The Chicks, and Brothers Osborne threw their weight behind Kamala Harris, while on the other side, Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, and John Rich were some of the most vocal Trump supporters. Others, however, stayed silent, leaving fans to wonder where they stood politically.

One artist who remained largely quiet about his political views was Jelly Roll. Known for his down-to-earth style and relatable lyrics, Jelly Roll stayed away from political conversations during the election, but recently found himself thrust into the spotlight when a photo of him smiling and greeting President Trump alongside Kid Rock at UFC 309 went viral. This moment sparked a firestorm, with many online jumping to conclusions about his political leanings, assuming he must have voted for Trump.

But as the internet often goes, it was a case of guilt by association. Anyone seen interacting with Trump—regardless of context—was quickly labeled a supporter. The response was swift, and soon Jelly Roll found himself defending his stance.

In a now-deleted TikTok comment, Jelly Roll addressed the accusations head-on: “I can’t vote, sir – at all. lol. Nor have I ever. Nor will I ever be allowed to vote. It’s alright, you don’t know me, but please don’t lie about me.”

Why couldn’t Jelly Roll vote? The country music star’s voting rights were stripped away following a felony robbery conviction back in 2003. Under Tennessee law, a felony conviction results in the automatic loss of voting rights, and since his conviction was for robbery, it’s unlikely he will ever be able to have his record expunged. The only way to regain his right to vote is through a pardon from the governor of Tennessee.

In the past, Jelly Roll has been open about his political neutrality. He has repeatedly stated that, due to his inability to vote, he has never considered himself part of any political party. During his testimony before Congress on the fentanyl epidemic, he made his position clear: “I am a musician. I have no political alliance. I am neither Democrat nor Republican.”

While some may view his silence on political matters as controversial, Jelly Roll has remained focused on his music and the positive impact he can make in his community and beyond. He has used his platform to raise awareness about important issues, including mental health and addiction, and has been a voice for those who often feel marginalized.

It’s clear that Jelly Roll has faced his past head-on and done the hard work to turn his life around. His transformation from troubled youth to influential artist is a story of redemption, and he’s now using his platform to inspire others.

So, to set the record straight: Jelly Roll didn’t vote for Trump in 2024, nor did he vote for anyone else. He’s a convicted felon in Tennessee, and until his voting rights are restored, he will remain politically unaffiliated. But regardless of where he stands on the political spectrum, there’s no denying that Jelly Roll’s story is one of perseverance, redemption, and the power of second chances.

  1. Is a shame he could not tell us….Because there is nothing more trusted than an obese guy who spent time in prison and tattooed his face

  2. I love your honesty. Thank you. You are still a roll model in todays society no matter if you vote or not or who you vote for. I remember a time when my political view was not a subject of topic like now. How I vote is no one’s business but my own. Please let’s live our lives again without all the hate.I don’t care how you vote we all still have to wake up, shower have coffee and get on with our day. I just have a problem with people whole lie and steal from me. I am an American who loves my country and God.
