Kyle Rittenhouse is not voting for Donald Trump.
In a video shared to his X account, formerly Twitter, Rittenhouse said he would be “writing in Ron Paul for president of the United States” come the November election.
“Hi, I’m Kyle Rittenhouse, Outreach Director for Texas gun rights. A lot of people are upset that I said that I’m going to be writing in Ron Paul for president of the United States, and that is true, I will be writing in Ron Paul,” the 21-year-old said in the clip, referring to the former Texas congressman.
“Unfortunately, Donald Trump had bad advisors, making him bad on the Second Amendment, and that is my issue,” Rittenhouse added.
“If you cannot be completely uncompromisable on the Second Amendment, I will not vote for you, and I will write somebody else in. We need champions for the Second Amendment or our rights would be eaten away and eroded each day. I support my decision and I have no takebacks.”
Hours prior, Rittenhouse shared a photo with Paul.
“There aren’t many people in this world that I get excited to meet but meeting @RonPaul was an incredible pleasure,” he captioned the image, before adding in a separate post, “Still writing in @RonPaul!”
Rittenhouse shot three people, two of them fatally, during unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin in August 2020. The protests were prompted by the shooting of Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, by a white police officer. Blake was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Rittenhouse was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. In November 2021, he was acquitted of all five charges in the deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber after claiming self-defense. Paul Prediger, formerly known as Gaige Grosskreutz, was shot by Rittenhouse but survived.
Former president Trump met with Rittenhouse following the acquittal.
In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity at the time, Trump said: “Kyle, I got to know him a little bit. He called. He wanted to know if he could come over and say hello because he was a fan.”
“He should never have been put through that,” Trump said of the then-teenager. “That was prosecutorial misconduct.”
Trump added Rittenhouse was “a nice young man,” and “a really good, young guy.”
Recently Joe Rogan, whose podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, is the most-listened-to podcast worldwide, defended Rittenhouse.
During his episode with stand-up comedian Jimmy Dore, published on July 4, Rogan and Dore discussed the details of his case.
“Anytime there’s a gathering, protests, when people get angry and they’re marching, I think that ignites in us the same feelings of war and people start doing wild crazy s***,” Rogan said, adding the media “just f***** that kid and he won.”

Please don’t waste your vote on Paul… we need Good Trump !!!
I’m sorry but I disagree with the verdict . When you shoot someone you take away your rite to hide behind the second amendment. There are other ways to defuse a situation before we react emotionally.
BS, Kyle acted in self defense against armed evil Democrats about to shoot him! Democrat junkies murder 75+ people DAILY! Kyle ended BLM’s year long Reign of Terror!
They were pointing a gun at him!! What would YOU do at that point? Let them shoot you?
🖕🏻You Kyle. America stood with you.
Another President Trump backstabber. How much money are you getting from the left or what position were you offered?
You just messed up bud. Sleep in your own bed now.
