A 1-year-old Minnesota boy died this week after he fell from a hotel window in South Dakota.

Madden Hein was critically injured and died on April 15, two days after he fell from the third floor of the Club House Hotel & Suites in Sioux Falls, The Star Tribune reported.

Sioux Falls Police public information officer Sam Clemens told The Star Tribune, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader and CBS affiliate KELO that while an investigation is ongoing, the fall appears to be an accident.

“Everything just points to a tragic event,” he told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.

Clemens told the outlet that nearby witnesses with medical training provided Madden with treatment before he was hospitalized. At the time, he had a pulse but was unresponsive.

Hein’s parents said in an April 16 Facebook post that they are “having a hard time processing this all” and that their son’s organs will be donated.

“His organs are going to help so many other people,” their statement read. “Our little boy is a real life superhero. We will get to do a honor walk with him to his organ donation surgery. We will give out information when we know as this is a process. We have had so much love and support. We have felt it. We can’t explain how thankful we are for all of your thoughts and prayers. THANK YOU!”

GoFundMe fundraiser has raised over $63,000 for the family as of the morning of April 17.

“Madden has two amazing, loving parents who are teachers, an older sister who is 3 and a little sibling on the way who is due in August,” the tribute added.

“Thank you for all of the love and support that everyone is giving Madden’s family,” the fundraiser shared.

  1. Very sorry about the death of this child.
Accidents do happen, unfortunately sometimes death results. I pray for the family. No one wishes this on anyone.

  2. Two amazing loving parents who care only about what people think of them. If you are so wonderful why was your child at 1 year not under your watchful eye, anyone who has a 1 year old knows how fast they move. Oh and another one on the way , may God watch over that child and keep them safe which the parents can’t do.
Go fund … I don’t think so , pay for your own mistakes.
