A Walgreens employee, Mitarius Boyd, 21, shot a pregnant woman, Travonsha Ferguson, 24, multiple times in a Nashville parking lot on Wednesday night, leaving her in critical condition.

The incident resulted in an emergency C-section being performed to deliver her premature baby, who is in critical yet stable condition.

The shooting occurred when Boyd confronted two women he believed were shoplifting from the Walgreens where he is a team leader.

According to Boyd, he saw the women taking items from the store and followed them outside, where one of them sprayed him with mace. Boyd claimed he was afraid and thought the women might be armed, so he pulled out his semi-automatic pistol and started shooting. He said he was in fear for his life.

The two women fled the scene in a car, with Boyd going back to the store to call 911. Ferguson was left with multiple gunshot wounds and had to be rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The other woman, who dropped Ferguson off at Nashville General Hospital, remains unidentified.

The investigation is ongoing, and homicide detectives with Metro Nashville Police are investigating the shooting and Boyd’s self-defence claim. The Nashville District Attorney’s office will determine if Boyd will face charges once the investigation is concluded. Authorities have seized Boyd’s gun and cell phone.

Ferguson has not yet been interviewed by police because of her critical condition, and it is unclear if charges will be pressed against her. Meanwhile, Walgreens has stated that they take the matter seriously and are cooperating with local authorities. The safety of their patients, customers, and team members is their top priority, and they will not tolerate any violence in their stores.

This incident is a tragic reminder of the need for caution and restraint when dealing with suspected shoplifters. While shoplifting is a crime, it is not a justification for the use of lethal force. The use of guns and other deadly weapons should be reserved for situations where there is an immediate threat to life or limb. The investigation will hopefully shed more light on the circumstances surrounding this shooting and provide closure for all parties involved.

  1. what that employee did was totally illegal. You are not supposed to follow a customer out. You are supposed to let them leave and call the police about a theft. She used a non lethal device, and you cannot assume she had a weapon in order to use lethal defense strategy. Even he thought he was in danger, one shot is it, but to continue shooting, he is no longer shooting from a defensive position but the assaulter.

Someone else used this defense on a dad who left a store, the man was charged with murder.

    1. SEEMS IGNORANCE RUNS IN THAT DIRECTION….THEY NEVER LEARNED WHAT 911 WAS FOR….DON’T KNOW HOW IN THE WORLD THEY EVER GET THOSE JOBS ANYWAY….TOO MANY ARE JUST NOTHING MORE THAN HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUTS….NEVER EVEN LEARN TO WRITE, AND CAN ONLY PRINT.

  2. since when are so-called ‘reporters’ free to pester us with their sophistry?

upon what grounds does this virtue-signaling prick share his/her weepy advice?

we don’t care what the writer thinks. besides, who needs to be told to not shoot pregnant women?

the other obvious aspect is that either more of these harsh repercussions are visited upon those who prey on others (democrats), or civilization will end in America.
