Chicago police confirm that three people have died and two others were wounded in a mass shooting Sunday Morning on the city’s Southwest Side.
CPD Commander Don Jerome said officers responded to the scene, in the 4300 block of South Kedzie in the Brighton Park neighborhood around 4 a.m., for reports of a large caravan of 100 cars drifting in the middle of the street.
While responding to the scene, around 13 shots were reported through ShotSpotter. Upon arrival, an investigation revealed that five people were shot.
Police say three people have died as a result of the shooting. The victims were Hispanic males between the ages of 15 to 20 who had gang affiliations. Two other men remain at Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition but are expected to survive.
No weapon was recovered and multiple casings were found at the scene.
Area One detectives are investigating.
