Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Wednesday suggested the Supreme Court would not “survive the stench” if the court were to uphold Mississippi’s controversial 15-week abortion ban.
Sotomayor, while grilling the attorney backing the Mississippi law during oral arguments, suggested the court would be perceived as highly politicized were it to undermine the 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade and related rulings and that such a decision would be viewed as merely a reflection of the court’s new lopsided 6-3 conservative majority.
“Will this institution survive the stench that this creates in the public perception that the Constitution and its reading are just political acts?” she asked. “I don’t see how it is possible.”
The liberal justice’s comments came Wednesday as the court considered the constitutionality of Mississippi 15-week ban, which is among scores of state abortion restrictions that passed just as the Supreme Court began skewing more conservative with the addition of former President Trump’s three nominees to the bench.
The Mississippi law directly conflicts with Roe, which for nearly five decades has barred states from banning abortion prior to when a fetus can live outside the womb, known as fetal viability, which occurs around 24 weeks.
One of the central themes in Wednesday’s arguments was “stare decisis,” the legal doctrine that generally binds courts to abide by past rulings.
While the court’s more liberal justices seemed highly concerned about the prospect of departing from Roe and related rulings, the court’s more conservative justices generally seemed poised to consider setting new limits on the right to abortion.

Roe vrs Wade should never have happened in the first place. Even the woman who brought forth this abomination is sorry she did so. Thou shalt not kill. This includes an unborn baby. No wonder our country is in such a mess.

Now liberals including Sotomayor are feeling the walls close in, and are desperate to hold on to the “signature legislation” (murdering babies) they hold so near and dear. Nothing in this universe is as valuable, and prescious as human life, and no one is more vunerable than the unborn baby. How any adult man or woman can argue differently is beyond the pale.

Sotomayor is not smart enough to be a Justice on the Supreme Court. To state that a fetus cannot feel pain as it is struggling against the abortion procedure in the womb shows that she is either stupid or too uncaring for human life
to be making any decisions on anything that might come before the Court.
What is NOT being considered are the devastating consequences of making laws with no exceptions. IF the law passes….with no exceptions….how cruel to girls and women who are raped. Does it matter how many….even 1? If it were your 16 year old daughter….would you really subject her to further trauma …being pregnant? 9 months of added trauma? teen life, school, plans……..really? And toi add salt on a wound…the very man who used his power to rape & impregnate on Tuesday…..can use his power of the vote to vote AGAINST relieving trauma….if only a tad. Wrong!! The current stench on the whole Country has been around since the unlawful Roe v Wade decision, and the Court’s credibility has decreased further with its gay marriage ruling, both without a figment of basis in the Constitution on which each was supposedly grounded.
If the law passes, all of us could ask her if we can abort HER, Sotomayor and anyone else that wants to murder babies. That would then be legal as long as you state “abort” not murder. Last laugh on all of THEM!
Although, of course, any human being understands the horror of rape – period, be it incest, stranger, date rape – however, “all men (meaning all humans) are created equal. Babies in the womb are certainly, by any definition, “all men”. They surely, by any definition, have the same right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as a 1 year old, a 10 year old, 40 year old, or 90 year old! I’ve never understood the arrogance of human beings deciding that a human isn’t “really” human . . . until when????? When the five old men suddenly stated that the constitution allows a female to decide to have her baby killed, they did even that bass-ackward! When a baby is conceived and growing in the mothers womb it is still a baby no matter how people try to say that if the child cannot live outside the mothers womb it is not a baby! In Bible times if a person struggled with a pregnant woman and she dies then you must give soul for soul. And of course in this case two lives were taken.

The politicization of the “court” is not a perception…
Obviously, men who do not have to carry a child for 8-9 months are your frontrunners for being against abortion. I feel that if a woman becomes pregnant due to rape, incest, while on birth contraception, and if there is something horribly wrong with the fetus should be allowed to have an abortion but only within the first 8-10 weeks. Women who use abortions as their form of birth control should be given a hysterotomy. Men who do not pay child support for their offspring should have to get a vasectomy. What restrictions apply to a woman & her decisions about her body; men should have the same restrictions applied to his body & his decisions. Going back to the back alley abortions will start all over again & the deaths will follow. There are already a lot of children in this country who are unwanted, abused because they weren’t wanted, and in foster care. I can pick up a paper on any given day and find where a teen male or female has killed their infant. Teens have condoms readily available to them and they don’t use them; same goes for birth control because parents are not talking to their children about ways to prevent pregnancy. Abstinence is rarely the choice so we have to come up with something to instill in sexually active people in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies. Males should be held accountable for those who are pregnant as well. In this day and age where we are considering overturning Roe v. Wade AGAIN, there need to be other options. An 18 yr. old father killed his 5-week old baby girl because he was mad at his girlfriend for having the baby, she had over 15 fractures – Is that what we will be reading more of?

The Bill of Rights, in the Constitution she so dearly wants to uphold, lists “…the right to Life…”, does it not, Madam Justice?
We the people have put up with the stench of the Democratic Party for so long that killing Roe vs. Wade will be a breath of fresh air. Haven’t you liberals heard of the many forms of birth control available to women who do not wish to be pregnant? If a woman doesn’t want to get pregnant and refuses to use birth control, then why is she having sex at all?
There is already a “stench” emanating from the Supreme Court – – this smell is created by Roberts, Kagan and Sotomayor; those three should never have been confirmed to the highest court in the land.
