Kyle Rittenhouse found not guilty in Kenosha shooting

Reese Witherspoon has blasted the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict while backing gun control laws in the US.

On Friday (19 November), Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all five charges in his homicide trial. The 18-year-old shot dead two men and seriously wounded a third during a night of unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August 2020.

The jury returned its verdict after four days of deliberation.

In a Twitter post on Sunday (21 November), Witherspoon wrote: “No one should be able to purchase a semi-automatic weapon, cross state lines and kill two people, wound another, and go free.”

“In what world is this safe… for any of us?” she added.

The Legally Blonde actor also called the verdict a “disgrace” and wrote that she woke up “thinking about every mother/father/sister/brother/friend who has lost someone to senseless gun violence in America”.

“There was no justice for their pain. This is a disgrace.”

Witherspoon also wrote that she would not vote for any US representatives or judges who supported the verdict, and promoted gun control organisations Everytown and Moms Demand Action. She ended her thoughts by sending a message to “the families and friends who are grieving”.

“I’m holding you in my heart. And I will never stop advocating for justice,” Witherspoon wrote.

Rittenhouse was charged with five felony counts of first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and two counts of recklessly endangering safety in the first degree.

The teenager, who was 17 at the time of the shootings, travelled with an AR-15-style rifle from his home in Antioch, Illinois to Kenosha, Wisconsin amid protests over the police shooting of a Black man named Jacob Blake.

Rittenhouse shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and also shot Gaige Grosskreutz, who survived. He claimed he acted in self-defence after he was attacked by a mob. The prosecution argued that Rittenhouse provoked the violence and then used deadly force.

  1. I guess self defense means nothing to this dip…. Would she curl up in to a fetal position and let the big bad man beat her butt with a skateboard? Who gives a flying leap what any Hollywood elite says? Are there really that many sane people that would listen to this idiot?

  2. Another brainless hollyweird moron, flopping her gums! Who cares what you thing reese, Robert is right, you’re a NOBODY, and just another libTURD!

    1. They make facts to justify their beliefs. It doesn’t take a genius to be an actor, even though they mostly think that they know everything about everything. They live in a closed world. Closet, maybe?

  3. Another “Harvey-Wood-Epstein” fading actress whose uninformed opinion is meaningless. Why does the Enemedia-agenda cabal of so-called *news* publish her Liberal trash beliefs? Does anyone care what this dolt has to say? And why now?
Hiding behind her walled & gated property & being protected by her armed bodyguards is the height of hypocrisy.

  4. Did Reese the moron feel this way when all the BLM and ANTIF protesters were killing people all over the country or when they ambush our police officers? Probably not she just says what sounds good to her loser liberal buddies. I don’t think people should be able to make movies with play guns and make money off it, that they would have a problem with, all morons.

  5. In the same world where police officers carry guns for the same reason…to kill a criminal before he/she kills someone else. Maybe she should at least ACT like she has some common sense.

  6. Until the elitist Pig needs someone with a gun to protect her skanky ass from one of her leftist elitist friends or fans,I hope the pig chokes to death on her next bag of coke up her nose, California ,Hollywood ,and the land of fruits and nuts creates should stay in their sick a hole Utopias that they have created themselves ,they should stay right where they need to be and not reproduce..

  7. She’s so, so very much white privileged…. She should give all of her future earnings (for play acting) to blm and not keep anything for her privileged self.

  8. If we figure out a way to ban mental illness and antisocial behavior, we wouldn’t need gun laws. No gun, other than one with a faulty design, has ever killed or injured anyone all on its own. The great majority of gun owners have never killed or injured anyone. Those that use guns to harm others, outside of their assigned duties or personal defense, are usually shown to have mental illness issues, or antisocial issues. This includes most mass shootings, all school shootings, and all gang warfare.

  9. I guarantee you, she, has an arsenal of guns. Guarantee! She’s from Tennessee, for God’s sake!

This is all a ploy. 100% a ploy

  10. Can not believe my eyes!!!!!!! This is so what’s wrong with America today. Two days AFTER THE VERDICT IS READ, meaning this moron had enough time to research BEFORE sounding like such a moron, and still gets every fact twisted to sound like its a problem. 1. It is legal to purchase weapons in America, not in any small part for the following points to come, read on. 2.He was perfectly within his rites to cross any and all state lines he wanted. It sounds as though you are implying that he may have done so in possession of a weapon in which case you may have a point, but had you done ANY research BEFORE shooting you moron mouth off you would know that the weapon in question was at his fathers house IN WI. 3. “Kill two people and wound a third”. Watch the trial and SEE the facts the guy clearly defended himself. Yet you call it “killing and wounding” with the implication of being unjustified. Its called self defense and he chose to use it, and it is a choice, you can go down not doing anything and let someone do whatever, or exercise your legal rite to self defense. Thank goodness he chose the latter. Now, if that is truly a problem for you? A. Move your happy self out of a gated community, and move to an area that truly has your thoughts in mind, and enjoy. B. Get rid of all your personal security, to include all security for those around you, and refuse all security offered by anyone for any reason. C. Enjoy (in person) the fruits of your labor. Speaking of this. Why is it that you do speak this way, yet live another, a complete other? 4. “Go free” HELL YES. Not to mention how free and rich he will be when he gets done suing the pants off of those who jumped the gun and ran their big wrong mouths’. You say you wont stop feeling for those who lost. Good for you exercise that rite and while your at it think about what had to happen and who gave some or all for you to be able to do just that. Also don’t forget that those killed and wounded VOLUNTARILY PUT THEMSELVES IN THAT SITUATION by illegally attacking/assaulting someone. Just too bad for them that someone was able to defend themselves.
Here’s to wishing you getting well and staying that way.
