Natalie Harp’s intense devotion to President Donald Trump apparently didn’t begin when she landed a coveted spot inside his inner circle.
Years before becoming one of Trump’s closest White House aides, Harp was already flooding social media with deeply personal praise for the future president — at one point comparing him to a biblical figure and declaring that America was great “only because” Trump was in it.
Now, those old posts are resurfacing as Harp, 35, faces growing scrutiny over her extraordinarily close relationship with the 80-year-old president.
The Daily Beast uncovered dozens of posts from Harp’s now-deactivated Twitter account dating back to 2016, revealing just how intensely she admired Trump long before becoming his $150,000-a-year special assistant and executive assistant.
And some of the messages are striking.
In one 2019 post, Harp compared Trump to the Good Samaritan from the Bible while telling followers that she believed he had helped save her life.
“We all know the story of the Good Samaritan,” she began before describing herself as someone who had been “left to die” by the medical and political establishment.
Trump, she insisted, was the person who came to her rescue.
Harp has repeatedly credited Trump’s 2018 “Right to Try” legislation with helping her gain access to cancer treatment. But medical experts have challenged that version of events because Harp has said she received an FDA-approved immunotherapy drug for an off-label use — meaning the Trump-era law may not actually have been responsible for her treatment becoming available.
Her admiration extended far beyond health care.
Harp enthusiastically promoted Trump’s political messages, urged him to “build that wall,” and amplified his claims questioning the legitimacy of election results.
In August 2020, she posted another extraordinary tribute to Trump.
“We are living a GREAT AMERICAN STORY—only because you are in it,” she wrote before quoting the Bible: “Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.”
Days later, Harp received a massive political platform when Trump invited her to speak at the 2020 Republican National Convention.
Wearing a bright red dress, Harp compared Trump to George Bailey, Jimmy Stewart’s beloved character from the Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
She suggested America without Trump would resemble the movie’s grim alternate reality of Pottersville.
The comparison didn’t sit well with Stewart’s family.
His daughter Kelly Stewart Harcourt responded in a letter published by The New York Times, arguing that a movie centered on “decency, compassion, sacrifice and a fight against corruption” was being misused for a political message.
But Harp’s newly resurfaced Twitter history may seem almost restrained compared with the private letters that have recently thrust her relationship with Trump back into the spotlight.
The Daily Beast published two letters Harp reportedly wrote to Trump in 2023, revealing intensely personal language from a woman who would eventually become one of his closest White House aides.
In the letters, Harp reportedly described Trump as her “Guardian and Protector in this life” and expressed anxiety over disappointing him.
She wrote about missing the days when Trump would call her and they could talk about “everything and nothing” instead of constantly discussing work.
At another point, Harp complained that she had become burned out by her responsibilities and said she envied women around Trump whose jobs appeared to consist largely of talking with him and looking attractive.
“I want that job!!” she wrote, according to the published letters.
Harp also reportedly apologized profusely over relatively minor incidents during an overseas trip, including confusion after she was left in a vehicle outside Customs without her passport and another episode involving walking on a golf course rather than riding in a cart.
She admitted that anxiety had caused her to forget to eat and sleep and indicated that one of her greatest fears was falling in Trump’s estimation.
Her stated goal, according to the letters, was to never bring Trump “anything but joy.”
The disclosures have fueled fresh questions about where the line between professional loyalty and personal devotion ends for one of the most powerful gatekeepers surrounding the president.
Harp is hardly an ordinary executive assistant.
Reports say she helps determine what information reaches Trump, remains almost constantly by his side and has become such a trusted intermediary that foreign officials have reportedly contacted her while trying to reach the president.
Her estranged brother, Preston Harp, has also publicly criticized the relationship, describing his sister’s attachment to Trump as unhealthy.
The White House, however, has pushed back strongly against the growing media attention.
Officials have portrayed Harp as an exceptionally loyal and hardworking aide and accused reporters of sensationalizing her relationship with the president.
But with Harp’s old social media posts now resurfacing alongside her intensely personal letters, the fascination surrounding one of Trump’s most devoted aides appears unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
