Ben Shapiro Says He’s Been Trying to Get on ‘The View’ for Years

Conservative firebrand Ben Shapiro has spent years criticizing liberal media — but there’s one left-leaning TV show he apparently can’t get enough of.

The 42-year-old Daily Wire co-founder revealed that appearing on ABC’s The View would be a “dream booking,” claiming he has been trying to land a seat at the table for roughly a decade.

“I’ve been trying to get on The View for years. That is a dream booking for me,” Shapiro told Bill O’Reilly during an August 7 appearance on his We’ll Do It LIVE! podcast.

And Shapiro already knows exactly who he wants to face across the table.

“There’s nothing I would love better than to have a conversation with Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin,” he said.

The View has long been one of daytime television’s most politically charged programs, with its panel regularly clashing over Donald Trump, his administration and the biggest controversies dominating Washington.

Goldberg, Behar and Hostin generally represent the show’s liberal wing, while former Trump administration official Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro bring conservative perspectives to the table. Sara Haines is generally viewed as more moderate.

That political mix has made the show a frequent target for conservatives, particularly as its hosts have repeatedly criticized Trump and his policies.

David Bozell, president of the conservative Media Research Center, has even blasted the program as a “Democrat Socialist Party infomercial.”

But Shapiro admitted all of that may actually be part of the attraction.

The outspoken conservative commentator confessed that he is “a bit of a hate-watching fan” of the show and said he would eagerly accept an invitation.

“I would definitely appreciate a booking slot,” Shapiro said, adding that an offer “has never been in the offing despite 10 years of trying to get myself booked.”

The apparent cold shoulder may be especially frustrating considering The View has hardly avoided conservative guests.

During Season 29, the show welcomed former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene twice. Republican and former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt also appeared in January.

Actress Cheryl Hines, who has previously expressed Democratic views but is married to Trump Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also stopped by.

Former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Savannah Chrisley both filled in as guest hosts while Griffin was on maternity leave.

The biggest conservative booking came in June, when Vice President J.D. Vance sat down with the panel to promote his latest book.

During his June 16 appearance, Vance defended Trump’s controversial comments about inflation and the economy while also describing himself as a Jeffrey Epstein “conspiracy theorist.”

“I love Suzie Wiles, but absolutely, she thinks I’m a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff,” Vance joked.

Vance said he found it disturbing that Epstein, a convicted sex offender, had socialized with numerous wealthy and powerful people.

He acknowledged that “nobody knows exactly what happened,” but said he wanted “full transparency” surrounding the case.

Despite The View’s willingness to host some of the most prominent figures on the political right, Shapiro says his own invitation still hasn’t arrived.

For a commentator who built much of his career debating liberals, getting dropped into the middle of Goldberg, Behar and Hostin may be exactly the televised showdown he’s been waiting for.
