Jill Biden Makes Heartbreaking Confession

Jill Biden once believed Kamala Harris was on the verge of making history. Now, the former first lady fears she may never live to see a woman elected president of the United States.

During an emotional appearance on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Biden was asked whether she thought the country would elect a female president in their lifetimes.

Her response was blunt.

“In my lifetime? I’m 75,” Biden said. “I feel like probably not in my lifetime, Kelly, but maybe in yours.”

The admission offered a striking glimpse into the disappointment still lingering among Democrats following Harris’ loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Biden said she had genuinely believed Harris was headed for victory after seeing the enthusiasm surrounding her campaign.

“I really did think last time that Kamala was gonna win,” Biden said. “I was out on the campaign trail for her. I saw the excitement, I saw the crowds, I saw it at the convention. I saw all the energy, and I thought, ‘Finally, we’re going to have a woman president.’”

Instead, Biden said she woke up the morning after the election and discovered that the history-making moment she had expected would not happen.

“I must tell you, I was shocked,” she said.

Biden recalled getting out of bed around 5 a.m. to feed Willow, the family’s cat, and prepare for the day when she learned Harris had lost.

“Shocked,” she repeated.

Harris became the Democratic nominee after former President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign. The former vice president ultimately lost to Trump, denying Democrats what many believed could have been the country’s best opportunity yet to elect its first female president.

Despite Jill Biden’s doubts, the possibility has not disappeared completely.

Harris has continued to leave the door open to another White House campaign, saying she is not finished with public service. Although she has not formally announced a 2028 run, her recent comments have fueled speculation that she could seek the presidency again.

She is not the only prominent Democratic woman being discussed as a possible contender.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have also been mentioned as potential 2028 candidates, while former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is among several other Democrats believed to be considering a run.

Ocasio-Cortez was recently asked whether she might seek the presidency or challenge New York Sen. Chuck Schumer for his Senate seat.

The congresswoman avoided committing to either race, arguing that her political goals extend far beyond obtaining a particular title.

“What’s funny about that is that they assume my ambition is positional,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “They assume my ambition is a title or a seat. And my ambition is way bigger than that.”

“My ambition is to change this country,” she continued.

Ocasio-Cortez said elected leaders may come and go, but policies such as universal healthcare, a living wage, workers’ rights and women’s rights can create a lasting legacy.

For Jill Biden, however, Harris’ defeat appears to have shaken her belief that the country is ready to finally break one of its highest political barriers.

After watching Hillary Clinton lose in 2016 and Harris fall short eight years later, Biden now fears America’s first female presidency may remain out of reach for another generation.
