Mom Slaps Her 6-Year-Old Son During Instacart Delivery in Horrifying Video

A Florida mother is facing a child abuse charge after disturbing surveillance footage allegedly showed her slapping her 6-year-old son outside an apartment door after forcing him to carry a heavy case of bottled water during an Instacart delivery.

The shocking incident unfolded at an apartment complex in St. Augustine, Florida, where police say 36-year-old Kiah Lowery was making multiple grocery deliveries with her young child in tow.

Ring camera footage captured the heartbreaking moment the little boy struggled under the weight of a 24-pack of bottled water that reportedly weighed about 26 pounds — more than half of his own body weight.

According to a police report obtained by the New York Post, the child weighed just 49 pounds.

In the video, Lowery can allegedly be heard berating the boy with profanity as she demands that he pick up part of the delivery.

“You carry this f—ing water,” she allegedly says in the footage, before handing the boy the heavy case.

The child immediately appears overwhelmed by the weight and pleads that he cannot hold it.

“Ow! I can’t hold it!” the boy cries out before dropping the water to the ground, causing the packaging to split open and bottles to roll across the hallway.

What happened next left the Instacart customer horrified enough to call police.

As the boy tried to move away, Lowery allegedly grabbed him by the shirt and slapped him across the face. The child could be seen crying and holding his head as his mother continued scolding him.

“You’re the worst. You’re the f—ing worst,” she allegedly shouted, according to the footage.

Police said Lowery continued demanding that the child help with the delivery, telling him, “You’re going to carry something.”

The customer who received the delivery reported the “violent interaction” to authorities the same day.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office later announced that Lowery had been arrested and charged with child abuse in connection with the May 31 incident.

Investigators said the boy was clearly unable to carry the case of water and should never have been put in that position.

“The victim was clearly unable to hold the water and was struck and scolded by the defendant for an action that he was incapable of performing,” police wrote.

Authorities also noted that Lowery’s actions created a “severe imbalance” for the child before she allegedly struck him.

When questioned by police, Lowery allegedly claimed her son had been “defiant” while she was trying to complete three Instacart orders at the apartment complex.

She reportedly apologized and blamed the incident on an “over-stimulated moment.”

Lowery was booked into the St. Johns County Jail and later posted a $5,000 bond.

A judge has since ordered her to have no contact with the child. She must also stay at least 500 feet away from him.

Instacart did not immediately respond to the New York Post’s request for comment.
