The Pentagon quietly released a third batch of UFO files Friday morning, and some of the newly published material is raising eyebrows.

The latest document dump includes recorded NASA briefings from the Apollo 16 mission that allegedly referenced an “alien starbase” on the dark side of the moon. Those comments were not included in the official transcript from the 1972 mission.

One of the strangest files in the release is a 1958 CIA memo detailing a phone conversation with a scientist about concerns over a destroyed “space message and its transmitter.”

The scientist was Dr. Leon Davidson, a chemical engineer who worked on the Manhattan Project and at Los Alamos. Davidson later became known for his interest in UFO research.

The new files were uploaded to the Department of War’s website on Friday, the same day the Hollywood blockbuster Disclosure Day hit theaters.

The Pentagon said public interest in the UFO archive has been massive, with the site receiving more than 1.7 billion hits from around the world since it launched in May.

This third release adds dozens of documents, photos and videos to the government’s growing public collection of unexplained aerial sightings and other mysterious incidents.
