A former Brazilian model has reignited one of the most politically explosive questions surrounding President Donald Trump’s inner circle: how did Melania Trump really meet the man who would become her husband?

Amanda Ungaro, a former associate of Melania Trump and ex-partner of modeling agent-turned-Trump envoy Paolo Zampolli, has made a stunning allegation that directly challenges the first lady’s own public account. In a taped WhatsApp recording posted online, Ungaro claimed that Jeffrey Epstein, not Zampolli, introduced Melania to Donald Trump.

The allegation, which has not been proven, is already sending shockwaves through political circles because it cuts straight into the long-running Epstein scandal that has shadowed powerful men in politics, finance, and high society for years.

Ungaro alleged in the recording that Melania had been an “escort” for Epstein and that this was how she met Trump. The claim is incendiary, but it remains an allegation made during what has reportedly been a bitter custody dispute between Ungaro and Zampolli.

Still, the timing and details have made the accusation impossible to ignore.

For years, the accepted story has been that Melania Knauss met Donald Trump at a New York City party in 1998 while she was working as a model connected to Zampolli’s agency. Zampolli has repeatedly claimed he was the one who introduced the two.

Melania herself has publicly denied that Epstein played any role in her introduction to Trump. Earlier this year, she held a surprise press conference where she denounced what she described as “mean-spirited and politically motivated lies” tying her to the late convicted sex offender.

“I am not Epstein’s victim. Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump,” Melania told reporters in April. “I met my husband, by chance, at a New York City party in 1998. This initial encounter with my husband is documented in detail in my book, Melania.”

She also said the first time she crossed paths with Epstein was in 2000, at an event she attended with Donald Trump, and insisted she had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal conduct at the time.

But Ungaro’s recording offers a dramatically different version.

“Let’s tell the public you never was the one introducing Melania to Trump. It was Jeffrey Epstein, as she was escort of Jeffrey Epstein. That’s how she met Donald Trump,” Ungaro claimed in the recording, according to the Daily Beast.

“And I know, because I was with you 20 years and you always told me it was not you — it was Jeffrey Epstein,” she added.

Zampolli fiercely rejected the allegation.

“I think it is a disgrace that she dares to say this about our marvelous first lady,” he told the Daily Beast, also suggesting he was concerned about Ungaro’s health.

Zampolli is not just a former modeling agent. He is now a Special Envoy for Global Partnerships and a member of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees, making the accusation even more politically sensitive.

The controversy also comes with a complicated backstory. Ungaro and Zampolli moved for years in elite circles that overlapped with Trump world. They were photographed alongside Donald and Melania Trump at Mar-a-Lago events. Ungaro was also photographed with Zampolli and the Trumps at a New Year gala.

Ungaro has previously said she boarded Epstein’s private jet, often referred to as the “Lolita Express,” in June 2002 when she was 17. She was reportedly accompanied by French modeling scout Jean-Luc Brunel, who was later accused of helping recruit young women for Epstein. Brunel died in a French jail in 2022 while awaiting trial on rape charges, which he had denied.

The latest allegation has also drawn attention because Justice Department files reportedly included a statement from a former Epstein assistant who told the FBI that Epstein introduced Donald Trump and Melania. That claim has been disputed by Zampolli, who has long maintained that he personally played matchmaker.

“Even without an attorney, I’m volunteering to go to Congress to testify about this, because we have seen enough nonsense,” Zampolli previously told the Daily Beast.

He recalled introducing the future couple by saying, “Melania meet Donald, Donald meet Melania,” before leaving the table to attend to other guests.

The new recording was first posted by independent journalist and Substack writer Anthony Andrews, who said he had been asked to publish it and tag Zampolli. The post later disappeared, but not before it circulated online.

“Unusual things continue to occur in the background,” Andrews later wrote. “What’s out there is out there now, but I will continue to be a messenger and follow the requests being made of me.”

Zampolli warned that legal action could follow, reportedly saying his lawyers were “already on it.” He later claimed that many of the allegations being pushed by Ungaro were AI-generated. Andrews pushed back, insisting the material was not fake.

The White House and the first lady’s office were contacted by the Daily Beast for comment.

For Democrats and Trump critics, the new allegation will likely fuel fresh questions about the president’s past association with Epstein, whose connections to the rich and powerful have remained a political landmine years after his death. For Trump allies, the claim will almost certainly be dismissed as another smear campaign aimed at the first family.

But one thing is clear: the Epstein story refuses to disappear.

Every new name, photo, flight log, recording, and contradiction keeps dragging the scandal back into the national spotlight. And now, with Melania Trump directly named in one of the most provocative claims yet, the political firestorm around Epstein and the Trump world just got even hotter.
