Lara Trump may have been trying to promote her latest interview with Donald Trump, but the internet quickly latched onto something else entirely: the president’s height.
A new Instagram promo for My View With Lara Trump showed the president’s daughter-in-law standing beside him before the clip cut to interview footage and a tour of Trump’s planned $400 million White House ballroom project. But the opening shot immediately raised eyebrows.
Lara, 43, appeared nearly eye-to-eye with Trump, even though the White House has previously listed the president at 6-foot-3.
That detail did not go unnoticed.
Lara Trump is reportedly 5-foot-11 and is known for wearing high heels. She has also spoken publicly about embracing her height, once encouraging women on her podcast to “stand tall” and “be proud.” Her husband, Eric Trump, is listed at 6-foot-5, making height something of a running theme in the Trump family.
But when Lara stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the president in the promo video, many viewers were left wondering whether Trump’s officially listed height is doing a little political heavy lifting of its own.
The video quickly reignited long-running speculation about Trump’s true height, a topic that has followed him for years as photos of the president beside other public figures have repeatedly sparked online debate.
Lara has previously joked that marrying into the Trump family had one unexpected perk.
“The good news is I married into a family of tall people,” she once said, adding that when the Trumps gather together, everyone looks “normal height.”
But in this case, that optical illusion may have worked a little too well.
Earlier this month, similar questions surfaced after photos showed Lara standing near Trump while wearing pink heels. She appeared unusually close to his height in those images, while Eric Trump still appeared noticeably taller than his wife.
The latest clip is not the first time Trump’s height has been scrutinized.
During a state visit to Britain last year, Trump posed with Prince William, who is also widely reported to be 6-foot-3. But in photos taken at Windsor Castle, William appeared clearly taller than Trump, despite the two men supposedly being the same height.
That fueled even more speculation, especially because Trump’s official physical listed him at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds. However, a copy of his driver’s license obtained by Politico in 2016 reportedly listed him at 6-foot-2.
For most people, gaining height in their late 70s would be surprising. Doctors generally say people tend to lose height as they age because of changes in bones, joints and spinal discs.
Trump, now 79, has already faced questions about age, health and physical appearance as he serves as the oldest president in American history.
The White House has insisted that Trump remains in “excellent cognitive and physical health.” But his appearance has repeatedly drawn attention, including visible swelling around his ankles, which officials have attributed to chronic venous insufficiency, and dark bruising on his hands, which the White House has blamed on frequent handshaking and aspirin use.
For Trump, who has long built his political brand around dominance, strength and image, even a few disputed inches can become part of a larger conversation about transparency.
And that is exactly why Lara Trump’s seemingly harmless promo clip took off.
It was not the ballroom. It was not the interview. It was not even the usual family-friendly Trump messaging.
It was one simple visual: Lara Trump standing beside Donald Trump and appearing just a little too close to his supposedly towering height.
Now, the internet is asking the obvious question again.
How tall is Donald Trump really?

By age 79, Trump has likely lost height due to compression of back discs and other joints… I’ve always thought he was 6’2″… probably 6’1″+ now without shoes… and Vance even taller…
No matter, we didn’t vote for Trump because of his height but because he does what we want done… what we would do in his place…
