Warren Buffett is drawing a hard line — and it’s sending shockwaves through the billionaire world.
The legendary investor has revealed he’s completely cut off contact with longtime friend Bill Gates following the explosive release of documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein, a scandal that continues to ripple through some of the most powerful circles on the planet.
“I haven’t talked to him at all since the whole thing was unveiled,” Buffett said bluntly in a CNBC interview — his first public comments since the files resurfaced.
And his reasoning? Just as jaw-dropping.
“I don’t want to be in a position where I know things… to be called as a witness,” he added, making it clear he wants no part of whatever fallout may still be coming.
The admission marks a stunning shift in what was once one of the most iconic friendships in modern business history.
For decades, Buffett and Gates were inseparable power players — bonding over philanthropy, strategy, and their shared mission to give away billions through initiatives like the Giving Pledge. Buffett even served as a trustee for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, pouring tens of billions into global causes.
But now, that relationship appears to be on ice.
Buffett didn’t completely shut the door on their friendship, speaking warmly about their past. Still, he made it clear the situation has changed.
“Until things are resolved, it’s not wise to say much,” he said. “I’d rather not be under oath.”
Behind the scenes, the controversy centers on Gates’ past association with Epstein — ties that have come roaring back into the spotlight with the latest batch of documents.
The files have reignited questions about why Gates continued meeting with Epstein after the financier’s 2008 conviction, including visits to his properties. Gates has previously said those meetings were related to philanthropy, while also admitting they were a serious mistake.
Buffett, meanwhile, didn’t hold back when describing Epstein — painting him as a master manipulator who preyed on powerful men.
“It is astounding to me that anyone could be that successful as a con man,” Buffett said. “He had a way of conning everybody.”
In a revealing moment, Buffett added that Gates may have once invited him to New York to meet Epstein — something that never happened.
“I got him to thank for not doing that,” Buffett said. “But you can’t get away from what happened either.”
As the Epstein files continue to unravel connections across elite circles, Gates has pushed back hard against new allegations tied to the release.
A spokesperson for the Microsoft co-founder blasted recent claims as “absolutely absurd and completely false,” insisting the documents reflect Epstein’s attempts to “entrap and defame” Gates rather than any real relationship.
