Mary Trump says she has officially been kicked off TikTok, and she is not staying quiet about who she thinks is behind it.
Donald Trump’s niece, one of his most relentless public critics, revealed Thursday that her account was permanently banned after the platform flagged two of her videos. And according to Mary, this was never just about moderation. In her view, it was another glaring example of powerful Trump-world allies tightening their grip on media, speech, and the digital spaces where dissent still survives.
Writing on her Substack, The Good In Us, Mary said she was stunned to learn she had been removed from the platform for what TikTok labeled user violations. One of the videos reportedly dated back to October 2024. The other, she said, focused on FCC Chairman Brendan Carr after he made alarming comments about news networks covering Trump’s war with Iran.
Mary did not hide her outrage. She said TikTok had to “dig deep” to find material worth punishing and suggested the move was part of a much bigger shift happening behind the scenes. In her telling, left-leaning voices were always going to be vulnerable once Trump-connected billionaire Larry Ellison gained enormous influence over TikTok’s U.S. operations.
That is where the story gets even more unsettling.
Ellison’s Oracle holds a major stake in TikTok U.S. and plays a powerful role in data and security oversight. He also sits at the center of Trump’s billionaire orbit, with deep political and business ties to the administration. For critics already worried about tech platforms becoming ideological weapons, Mary’s ban looks less like a random enforcement call and more like a flashing warning sign.
Her fury also centered on Carr, who recently came under fire after suggesting broadcast outlets could face consequences if they failed to cover the Iran conflict in a way the administration considered acceptable. His comments sparked immediate backlash, with many seeing them as an open threat against press freedom.
Mary’s argument is simple and chilling: when government officials pressure the media, billionaire allies control massive communication platforms, and critics start getting silenced, that is not normal politics. That is a democracy issue.
She called the situation “a five-alarm fire,” and for many on the left, that will not sound like an exaggeration.
The Trump administration has pushed hard for favorable coverage of its Iran war messaging since the conflict began, even as officials have struggled to stick to one clear explanation for why the U.S. got involved in the first place. That confusion has only fueled more suspicion, especially when watchdogs and journalists face threats for reporting facts the White House does not like.
Mary has spent years publicly warning that her uncle’s style of politics is rooted in intimidation, loyalty tests, and revenge. Now, she appears to believe those tactics are spreading deeper into the platforms millions of Americans use every day.
The White House, unsurprisingly, did not exactly offer a thoughtful response. Communications Director Steven Cheung fired back by mocking Mary and dismissing her criticism instead of addressing the broader concerns she raised.
But the bigger issue may be harder to brush off. Mary Trump’s TikTok ban is already being viewed by critics as more than just a family feud spilling online. To them, it is another sign that the line between political power, billionaire control, and speech suppression is getting dangerously thin.
For liberals and anyone worried about where this is heading, Mary’s message was unmistakable: pay attention now, because this is how the slide begins.
