Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are firing back after a new royal tell-all book made explosive claims about their life inside the monarchy.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex slammed author Tom Bower this weekend, accusing him of peddling what they called “deranged conspiracy and melodrama” in his latest work about Britain’s royal family.
In a sharply worded statement released Saturday, the California-based couple said Bower has crossed a line with his relentless criticism.
“Tom Bower has long crossed the line from criticism into fixation,” the pair said.
The controversy erupted after excerpts from Bower’s upcoming book were published Friday in The Times of London. The passages paint a tense picture of the Sussexes’ relationship with other senior royals before their dramatic split from the monarchy and move to the United States.
Among the claims: Queen Camilla allegedly told a friend she believed Meghan had “brainwashed” Prince Harry.
Bower also writes that Prince William and his wife Catherine saw Meghan as a growing threat within the royal household rather than a trusted ally — tensions that reportedly intensified before Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties and relocated to America in 2020.
Harry and Meghan strongly rejected the author’s portrayal, accusing him of building elaborate narratives about people he has never even met.
“This is someone who has publicly said the monarchy depends on obliterating the Sussexes from public life,” the couple said in their statement. “Those interested in facts will look elsewhere.”
The Sussexes also pushed back against criticism in the book aimed at their finances, charitable work, and Prince Harry’s Invictus Games — the international sports competition he founded for wounded and injured military veterans.
Bower is no stranger to controversy when it comes to the Sussexes.
In 2022 he released the best-selling royal biography Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, which also made headlines for its sharp critique of the couple and their break from the royal family.
The latest book appears poised to reignite the long-running feud surrounding Harry, Meghan, and the House of Windsor — a saga that continues to captivate audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
