One of the prison guards on duty the night Jeffrey Epstein died in his jail cell is now being called to testify before Congress as lawmakers continue digging into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the disgraced financier’s death.
Tova Noel was working at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York when Epstein died in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer announced Friday that Noel has been asked to appear for a transcribed interview with investigators on March 26 as part of the committee’s ongoing probe into Epstein’s final hours.
In a letter sent to Noel, Comer said the committee believes she may have information that could help shed light on what happened inside the federal jail the night Epstein died.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender with powerful connections, was found dead in his cell just weeks after being arrested in July 2019. Authorities ruled his death a suicide, but the case has continued to spark widespread speculation and conspiracy theories.
Questions have lingered for years about security failures inside the jail, including reports that guards failed to properly monitor Epstein in the hours leading up to his death.
Lawmakers say the upcoming interview is part of a broader effort to uncover more details about the events that unfolded that night and whether proper procedures were followed.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional testimony could be requested as the committee continues reviewing documents and witness accounts tied to Epstein’s time in federal custody.
