A 23-year-old British woman visiting family in Texas was shot dead by her own father just hours after the pair got into what witnesses described as a “big argument” about President Donald Trump.

Lucy Harrison, who moved to the U.S. as a child, was fatally shot on Jan. 10, 2025, inside her father Kris Harrison’s Prosper, Texas home during what was supposed to be a routine holiday visit with her boyfriend, Sam Littler.

Police initially investigated the shooting as possible manslaughter, but a Texas grand jury declined to indict the father. Now, more than a year later, Lucy’s death is at the center of a tense investigation in Cheshire Coroner’s Court back in England.

During testimony this week, Littler detailed the tense morning that preceded the shooting, revealing that Lucy had confronted her father about Trump, challenging him on the former president’s past assault allegations. According to Littler, Lucy asked her father how he’d feel if she were the victim in such a situation. He allegedly replied that he wouldn’t be “very upset” because he had two other daughters at home. Littler said Lucy was devastated by the comment and retreated upstairs.

The argument lingered for hours until, just before Lucy and Littler were due at the airport, Kris suddenly led his daughter to his bedroom. Moments later, Littler heard a gunshot—followed by the father screaming for his wife.

Littler ran in to find Lucy on the floor near the bathroom doorway as Kris shouted incoherently.

Kris did not appear in court but admitted in a written statement that he had relapsed that day, drinking nearly an entire bottle of white wine. He claimed he and his daughter had been watching a news story about gun violence when he offered to show her his Glock 9mm. He insisted the gun discharged accidentally the moment he lifted it.

Lucy’s loved ones described her as spirited, emotional, and fiercely outspoken—someone who wasn’t afraid of difficult conversations and who was thriving in life before it was abruptly cut short.

“She had a huge capacity to love and be loved,” her family said in a statement. “We are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful, gorgeous Luce.”

Police in Prosper, Texas, and Cheshire have not released further comment.
