President Donald Trump is under fire after hosting a star-studded White House screening of Melania Trump’s new documentary on the same night Minneapolis was plunged into chaos over the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old VA nurse, by a U.S. Border Patrol agent.
As graphic videos of the shooting fueled protests across the city, Trump rolled out red carpets, military bands, and gourmet popcorn for a VIP crowd that included tech giants, global royalty, and Hollywood insiders.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unleashed a scathing attack.
“DHS killed a VA nurse in the street and FEMA is gutted during a national ice storm,” AOC said. “And the President? He’s eating popcorn at a Melania movie premiere. This is unfit leadership, full stop.”
Social media exploded, with users calling the moment “dystopian,” “cruel,” and “grounds for impeachment — again.”
Inside the White House, guests filed into a makeshift theater built because Trump replaced the historic screening room with a new ballroom for donor galas. One attendee admitted the mood was “bizarre,” saying, “Everyone’s phones were blowing up with Minneapolis alerts. No one said a word.”
Meanwhile, Melania’s $75 million documentary — backed aggressively by the Trump administration — is projected to open at just $5 million, a humiliating return for a project insiders privately call “the First Lady’s vanity epic.”
As protests grow and outrage mounts, AOC summed up the moment:
