A disturbing new video from Minneapolis is raising fresh questions about the Trump administration’s expanding federal enforcement tactics after Border Patrol agents shot and killed a 37-year-old U.S. citizen on Saturday—just days after another Minnesota resident died at the hands of federal officers.

The footage, reviewed by this outlet, captures the final chaotic moments before the man was fatally shot. The clip, taken by bystanders and later verified by local officials, shows the victim standing in the street near a small crowd, appearing to help direct traffic while recording on his phone. Moments later, federal agents shove a woman to the pavement. The man rushes toward her, crouching to help.

That’s when agents swarm him.

In the video, officers force him down in a flurry of shouting. The man appears to push back as multiple agents pin him to the ground. Then a single gunshot erupts—followed by several more. Some agents recoil and turn away as the scene devolves into screams and confusion.

The Department of Homeland Security under President Donald Trump quickly framed the incident as a violent ambush, claiming the man “wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.” But Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara publicly contradicted parts of that narrative within hours, confirming that the victim was a U.S. citizen, local resident, and “a lawful gun owner with a valid permit to carry.”
