Legendary rocker Neil Young unloaded on President Donald Trump in a blistering message this week — tying the death of an unarmed American mother to what he calls a “reckless, fear-mongering presidency.”
Young, 80, posted a fiery statement Thursday on his official website that didn’t mince words. “This is not America anymore,” he wrote. “This is fear. This is chaos. And it is being engineered at the highest levels of power.”
His words came in the shadow of a national uproar over the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis earlier this week — an incident that has ignited protests in cities from Boston to Philadelphia.
“She was a mother. A poet. A United States citizen,” Young continued, echoing the grief felt across the country. “And she was shot down in her own neighborhood. What does that tell you about who is running this country?”
Good, a mother of three described by loved ones as “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” was killed during a federal immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis — less than a mile from where George Floyd was murdered in 2020.
Her death sparked thousands of protesters to flood streets nationwide demanding accountability and an end to aggressive ICE tactics.
Young didn’t hold back in linking Trump’s policies to broader unrest.
“Donald Trump is trying to turn our cities into battlegrounds,” he wrote. “He knows nothing about love. Nothing about peace. Every move he makes is geared to build fear so he can hold onto power.”
The rocker didn’t stop at policy critiques. He took aim at the people Trump has surrounded himself with.
“Bit by bit, this administration is destroying the soul of America,” Young said. “With a staff of wannabes. People with no talent, no conscience, no sense of decency.”
He peppered his message with blunt phrases not typically seen from a figure of his stature: “creeps who have no spine,” “zero values,” and “a nation unraveling.” The post concluded with a simple, stark warning: “Wake up people! Today the USA is a disaster.”
The timing of Young’s statement comes as federal officials, including Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, have defended the ICE agent’s actions, calling the shooting lawful self-defense — a characterization disputed by local leaders, experts on police tactics, and Good’s family.
Her mother, Donna Ganger, said her daughter was “probably terrified” in her final moments and “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.”
City leaders like Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have condemned the incident and questioned the federal narrative, even as thousands continue to demand justice and investigations.
Young’s rebuke marks one of the most public cultural figures’ take downs of Trump since the Supreme Court overturned Roe and amid ongoing debates about federal power and civil rights.
He closed with a call for collective action: “Don’t let them steal our country with fear. Stand up. Speak out. Fight back.”
Whether his longtime fans heed that call remains to be seen — but Young’s intervention has already added fuel to a fire that shows no sign of dying down.

Well said!!
Is Neil a politician, anti American, anti Trump, TDS, democrat puppet, brainwashed, or a singer? So Neil let’s get this straight for you and all others for the last time. Just who you are bashing are the same people who used their hard earned money to buy your products, tickets and so on. Now you bash those same people. Wow stab us in the back. Oh ya forgot democrats are good at that. You see Pryor or on government assistance can’t afford anything like tickets to concerts. Then you have the wealthy who gets free everything just like illegals, just because of their wealth status. I am sick of these people bashing Americans who support our President and bash our President. True colors are on full display and boy we have a lot of wannabe politicians or wannabe important. Just to inform you I have just removed all things I have with your name anywhere on it to my burn area in my pasture. So Neil what did you get for being a decent puppet mouth piece? Sucks to be you right now. Ask Springsteen and lady Gaga and Bon Jovi how that worked for them and better ask Garth also. See unlike the violent left we Americans just rid your name from our surroundings and that only hurts you and no one else. We can make a louder and more effective statement then the punks being paid by democrats. Because these younger generations probably don’t even have a clue who you are. We don’t bark we just bite. Another one bites the dust!
Yeah, NextGen shouldn’t even be putting this evil USA-hater in front of us…
You said it so well & the truth!! Well said!!!
