Barack Obama just sent a shockwave through Chicago’s South Side — announcing a major hiring spree for his Presidential Center and urging locals to seize the opportunity before the doors swing open later this year.
The former president has personally called on Chicagoans to apply for more than 150 full-time jobs at the sprawling, billion-dollar Jackson Park landmark that has been nearly a decade in the making.
“This isn’t just a job fair,” one community organizer said Monday. “Obama is literally rebuilding part of the South Side and asking residents to be the face of it.”
Obama made the announcement in a new message that instantly grabbed attention across the city.
“When people walk through this place, I want them to feel the soul of the South Side — the warmth, the grit, the humor, the fight,” Obama said. “And that starts with the people who greet them.”
The Obama Presidential Center — a towering museum, plaza, and community hub — is expected to become one of the most visited sites in the Midwest, drawing millions of tourists every year. Insiders say the Foundation is rushing to build a powerhouse staff before opening day.
“This is historic,” a senior foundation staffer told us. “Whoever steps into these roles will be shaping the public’s first impression of Barack Obama’s legacy. That’s not a small responsibility.”
The hiring blitz includes positions in visitor services, building operations, security, and event programming. Many jobs require no previous museum experience, widening the pool for South Side applicants.
The center survived lawsuits, protests, construction delays, and political battles. Now, with the finishing touches going up, Obama is turning directly to residents — especially those who watched the project rise from its earliest sketches.
“I got my start here,” Obama said. “This neighborhood gave me everything — Michelle, my career, my purpose. This center is my way of giving something back.”
Applicants can apply at Obama.org, where foundation officials say they expect an “avalanche” of interest.
Obama ended his message with a challenge that felt more like a rallying cry:
“If you’ve ever wanted to be part of something bigger, this is the moment. Chicago — come work with us.”

Obama paid your community one dollar to destroy it. What did he do for you the last 20+ years? Did your children learning reading, writing and arithmetic? Are the streets safer? Are your communities better? Are your taxes down? Do illegals live better than you? Who is actually paying for this ugly building? I want to know why you citizens are paying for your property and taxes that cost the thousands while he stole your land for $1? He says to help the community, but all I have seen is a community destroyed. How much of a tax increase are you getting from this? Now he wants you to work in this ugly building and pay more taxes. Where is he getting money from? Who is actually paying for it? I call this waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars. Anyone living in a certain area around this dumb building are going to see their taxes spike. I can’t imagine there will be much traffic to and from this place. I think Tampoon Tim learned from Obama on how to make Americas who work hard and pay taxes work to support everyone but true Americans. Illinois has corruption built into it like Minnesota and Washington DC. Waste of our money to fund democrats and rino’s, not mention illegals and other countries who hate Americans. We have been getting nothing in return for our hard work. The only ones that receive our tax dollars are the wealthy like Obama. They actually pay less taxes then we do and get everything free. While all Americans in middle class have worked hard for what they have. Anyone who who works in this ugly building is just going to paying higher taxes and should understand that Obama isn’t the the one paying their salaries. I want to know why you are being ask to work here when Obama didn’t help with jobs the entire time he was in office and only 150 people. Most of these hires will be for keeping off the dust from inside this stupid building. Stop supporting corrupt individuals. If federal taxes go away how much will your state taxes rise because corrupt people in power need money to support them. For many decades we have been screwed over by these corrupt people. Your taxes didn’t pay a thing out to you. I would like to buy a chunk of property for one dollar and make others pay for my new land and home built on it then make them pay for my taxes also. Obama only cared about himself and bribing and threatening others to get everything he has. This is what happens when we allow foreigners in our government who are anti American.
