Barack and Michelle Obama put any lingering relationship rumors to rest with a polished and affectionate holiday photo that.
“Merry Christmas!” Michelle Obama, 61, wrote in an Instagram post shared on Thursday, Dec. 25. “Barack and I send you our heartfelt wishes for a blessed holiday and joyful start to the new year.”
The photo shows the former first couple looking effortlessly elegant. Michelle stunned in a lacy black gown with a plunging neckline and ruffled hem, topped with a black shrug draped over her shoulders. Barack Obama, 64, complemented her look in a cream-colored jacket paired with a black shirt and matching pants.
Fans quickly flooded the comments section with praise for the couple’s style and chemistry.
“Merry Christmas and also you’re stunning!” one follower wrote, while another added, “Merry Christmas to the finest first family.” Others called the pair “beautiful,” “iconic,” and “forever goals.”
The festive post comes months after the Obamas found themselves at the center of split rumors earlier this year. Speculation swirled after Barack attended several high-profile events — including former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s inauguration — without Michelle by his side.
Michelle later shut down the rumors during a June appearance on the Wild Card podcast, explaining that her absence from public events had nothing to do with trouble in her marriage.
“The fact that people don’t see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage,” she said. “It’s like, ‘OK, so we don’t Instagram every minute of our lives.’ We are 60. You’re just not going to know what we’re doing every minute of the day.”
She also explained that stepping back from certain obligations was a personal choice.
“One of the major decisions I made this year was to stay put and not attend funerals and inaugurations and all the things that I’m supposed to attend,” Michelle shared. “That was me defining what I want to do, apart from what the world expects of me.”

Glad to see they still get together for a couple minutes once a year for a photo…
They look like they have fake smiles and something wrong with photo also. They look stoned or drunk. Not to mention she shrank in height and arms don’t look like hers. Tell me I am wrong but I wonder if photoshop has had a play with this picture. Not to mention what did he bribe her with?
