FBI joins hunt for masked suspects after explosion at Harvard Medical School

Harvard University’s Longwood Medical School campus was shaken early Saturday morning by an “intentional” explosion, and the FBI is now helping investigators track down multiple masked suspects.

According to Harvard officials, the incident occurred just after 2:45 a.m. when a Harvard University Police Department officer responded to a fire alarm at the Goldenson building on 220 Longwood Avenue in Boston. Upon arrival, the officer saw two people fleeing the building.

Surveillance images released by Harvard University Police show the suspects wearing masks and head coverings, and authorities are asking the public for help identifying them.

The officer proceeded to the fourth floor, where the alarm had been triggered, and discovered that an explosion had taken place. Boston Fire Department’s Arson Unit quickly responded, assessing the blast as intentional and likely caused by a single device. The Boston Police Department conducted a full sweep of the building to ensure no additional threats remained.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

“The Harvard University Police Department is actively investigating this incident in coordination with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners,” a university spokesperson told Fox News Digital. The FBI’s Boston office confirmed it is assisting with the investigation but deferred further comment to university police.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Harvard University Police Department Detective Bureau at 617-495-1796.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
